Articulating microsurgical instrument

An apparatus and method for an articulating microsurgical instrument is disclosed herein. The articulating microsurgical instrument may be configured to be operable with a Doppler probe, bone grasper, soft tissue grasper/dissector, scissors, flexible forceps, or a suction/irrigation line configured to provide tools within a surgical location that can be adjusted to a desired angle of operation. A tip assembly may comprise an articulating portion at a distal tip and the articulating portion may be configured to deflect upon actuation of an articulation control. The articulation control may be a trigger assembly or a roller wheel. A bayonet-style handle may include a set of posts configured to interact with the one or more control wires during actuation of the articulation control. One or more control wires may be housed in a lumen and actuated using a articulation control of a handle assembly.

DATA MODULES FOR SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS

In general, data modules for surgical instruments and methods of using data modules for surgical instruments are provided. In an exemplary embodiment, a data module is configured to be removably attached to a powered surgical tool such as an electrosurgical tool. The data module is a standalone device including electronic components that are configured to, with the data module attached to the electrosurgical tool, interact with the electrosurgical tool.

ILLUMINATED SURGICAL RETRACTOR

A surgical handpiece for removing tissue includes a housing defining a cavity therein, the housing having a proximal hub connector disposed at a distal end thereof. An end effector assembly is operably supported by the proximal hub connector and includes an outer shaft supporting a cutting shaft configured to remove tissue upon activation thereof via translation or rotation. A fluid pump is disposed within the cavity of the housing and is configured to evacuate fluid from the cutting shaft upon activation thereof. A motor is disposed within the cavity of the housing and includes a power coupler operably coupled to both the cutting shaft and the fluid pump for suppling power thereto.

TRANSCUTANEOUS ANALYTE SENSORS, APPLICATORS THEREFOR, AND ASSOCIATED METHODS

The present embodiments relate generally to systems and methods for measuring an analyte in a host. More particularly, the present embodiments provide sensor applicators and methods of use with activation that implant the sensor, withdraw the insertion needle, engage the transmitter with the housing, and disengage the applicator from the housing. Systems and methods according to present principles allow for such steps to occur without significant loss of spring force, and without deleterious effects such as seal slingshotting.

Staple cartridge comprising a staple driver arrangement

A staple cartridge for use with a stapling device that has an actuator that is selectively actuatable in an axial direction and an anvil portion that is selectively movable between open and closed positions is disclosed. Various embodiments of the present invention include a cartridge body that movably supports first and second staple drivers. The staple drivers each support a staple thereon and serve to drive the staples into forming contact with the anvil upon actuation by the actuator. The various embodiments of the present invention enable the final formed heights of the staples to be varied so as to apply various clamping forces and pressures to soft tissue captured within the staples. In at least one embodiment, the staples can include crowns formed thereon which can be utilized to adjust or control the clamping force and/or pressure applied by the staples.

Suturing closure scope with alternative needle orientation

The present disclosure relates generally to the field of medical devices. In particular, the present disclosure relates to single-use endoscopic medical devices with integrated and purpose-built functionality.

SURGICAL STAPLING APPARATUS WITH CONTROL FEATURES OPERABLE WITH ONE HAND

A surgical stapling apparatus. Various embodiments include a rotatable elongated body that extends from a rotatable shroud on handle assembly and has a distal end configured for attachment to a disposable loading unit. The apparatus further includes a lockable rotation system for selectively locking the rotatable shroud to prevent rotation thereof about a longitudinal axis.

THERMAL MECHANISM TO PREVENT REPROCESSING OR REUSE OF MECHANICAL SURGICAL DEVICES
