Track system for traction of a vehicle

A track system for traction of a vehicle that is connectable to an axle of the vehicle and includes a track and a track-engaging assembly for driving and guiding the track around the track-engaging assembly. The track-engaging assembly includes a drive wheel for driving the track, idler wheels for contacting a bottom run of the track, and a bogie carrying the idler wheels. The track system includes a transmission for transmitting power from the axle of the vehicle to the drive wheel such that a rotational speed of the drive wheel is different from a rotational speed of the axle of the vehicle. The track system includes a connector disposed between the transmission and the bogie such that the bogie is movable (e.g., pivotable) relative to the transmission. The connector may be disposed below an output shaft of the transmission.

Rear track assembly for a vehicle

A track assembly to be mounted on a vehicle. The track assembly has a frame, a drive wheel rotationally mounted to the frame, a front idler wheel assembly mounted to the frame, a rear idler wheel assembly mounted to the frame, and a track mounted around the front idler wheel assembly, the rear idler wheel assembly, and the drive wheel, and being in driving engagement with the drive wheel. The track has a plurality of traction lugs distributed along an outer surface of the track. Each traction lug of the plurality of traction lugs has a height in a range of 1.6 inches to 2.5 inches. A distance between a foremost point on the outer surface of the track and a rearmost point on the outer surface of the track is between 54 inches and 65 inches.

A treaded traction device for model vehicles is provided. The treaded traction device includes a biasing assembly and a tensioning assembly. The biasing assembly includes a first bias support fixed relative to a vehicle hub and a second bias support fixed relative to a traction hub. The biasing assembly also includes a coil and a dampener attached to the first and second bias supports. The treaded traction device is biased to result in one end being lower than another end. The tensioning assembly includes an idler wheel and a first and second tension support. The tension supports may be rotated to move the idler wheel, releasing tension on a surrounding tread. When the tension is released, the surrounding tread may be removed or replaced.

VEHICLE

A vehicle is disclosed. The vehicle may include a base portion and a modular portion. The base portion may be a four wheel vehicle having an operator area with seating for at least two occupants in a side-by-side arrangement. The modular portion may be coupled to the base portion resulting in a six wheel vehicle. The wheels of the modular portion may be powered by an engine of the base portion.

TRACK ASSEMBLY AND VEHICLE

A track assembly is to be mounted on a drive axle of a vehicle. The track assembly has a frame, at least one leading idler wheel mounted to the front of the frame for rotation about a transverse leading idler wheel axis, at least one trailing idler wheel mounted to the rear of the frame for rotation about a traverse trailing idler wheel axis parallel to the leading idler wheel axis, a single drive wheel assembly, and at least two slide rails. The slide rails have corresponding forward-facing portions, central portions, and rearward-facing portions. The forward-facing portions project from the front ends of the central portions by a projection that is greater than a length of the central portions. A vehicle having the track assembly is also encompassed. A kit of track assemblies is also encompassed.
