Staple cartridge comprising a detachable tissue cutting knife
A staple cartridge comprising a firing member and a sled releasably attachable to the firing member is disclosed.
Systems and methods for powered surgical circular stapling instrument rotation adjustment
A method for powered surgical stapling instrument rotation adjustment includes measuring a change in position of a first motor shaft of the surgical stapling instrument relative to a stored rotation verification position of the first motor shaft resulting from manual rotation of an adapter assembly of the surgical stapling instrument in relation to a handle assembly of the surgical stapling instrument, determining a distance traveled by a first drive assembly of the adapter assembly of the surgical stapling instrument resulting from the change in position of the first motor shaft, comparing the determined distance traveled to a first stored rotation verification position of the first motor shaft, determining if the compared distance falls into a predetermined acceptable range of rotation positions, and adjusting the position of the drive shaft if the compared distance is not within the predetermined range.
Translatable barrel cam of a robotic surgical system
A surgical instrument including an end effector, a shaft assembly defining a longitudinal axis extending proximally from the end effector, a first drive operatively connected to a first portion of at least one of the end effector or the shaft assembly, and an activating mechanism operatively connected to the first drive. The first drive longitudinally translates relative to the longitudinal axis from a first drive position toward a second drive position to respectively actuate the first portion from a first portion position toward a second portion. The activating mechanism selectively direct translation of the first drive from the first drive position toward the second drive position by rotating from a first rotational body position toward a second rotational body position or translating from a first translational body position toward a second translational body position.
Surgical Systems With Twist-Lock Battery Connection
A surgical system comprises a handpiece and a battery. The handpiece includes a body and a handpiece connector operatively coupled to the body, the handpiece connector including a first coupler. The battery includes a housing, a rechargeable cell for storing an electric charge, and a battery connector operatively coupled to the housing, the battery connector including a second coupler configured to rotatably engage the first coupler. The second coupler receives the first coupler along an axis at an initial radial position where relative axial movement between the battery and the handpiece is permitted and permits rotation of the battery relative to the handpiece from the initial radial position to a first secured radial position and a second secured radial position. Relative axial movement between the battery and the handpiece is constrained in the first secured radial position and in the second secured radial position.
ARTICULATING MICROSURGICAL INSTRUMENT
An apparatus and method for an articulating microsurgical instrument is disclosed herein. The articulating microsurgical instrument may be configured to be operable with a Doppler probe, bone grasper, soft tissue grasper/dissector, scissors, flexible forceps, or a suction/irrigation line configured to provide tools within a surgical location that can be adjusted to a desired angle of operation. A tip assembly may comprise an articulating portion at a distal tip and the articulating portion may be configured to deflect upon actuation of an articulation control. The articulation control may be a trigger assembly or a roller wheel. A bayonet-style handle may include a set of posts configured to interact with the one or more control wires during actuation of the articulation control. One or more control wires may be housed in a lumen and actuated using a articulation control of a handle assembly.
Battery-powered hand-held ultrasonic surgical cautery cutting device
A battery-powered, modular surgical device comprising an electrically powered surgical instrument that requires a pre-determined minimum amount of electrical energy to complete a surgical procedure, and a power module assembly that has a battery that powers the surgical instrument and has a current state of electrical charge, and a control circuit that is electrically coupled to the battery and the surgical instrument and has a memory and a microprocessor. The microprocessor determines the current state of electrical charge of the battery, compares the current state of electrical charge to the pre-determined minimum amount of electrical energy, permits the battery to discharge if the current state of electrical charge is above the pre-determined minimum amount of electrical energy, and maintains the battery in a non-discharge state if the current state of electrical charge is below the pre-determined minimum amount of electrical energy.
Endoscopic reposable surgical clip applier
A clip cartridge assembly for use with a reposable surgical clip applier includes a clip tray, a plurality of surgical clips, and a cover. The clip tray includes a plurality of distally oriented, deflectable, resilient fingers projecting from a base wall thereof. Each resilient finger terminates in a distal shoulder and a proximal end of the clip tray is configured for selective connection with a clip pusher bar of an endoscopic assembly of the reposable surgical clip applier. The cover includes a plurality of distally oriented, deflectable, resilient fingers projecting within a channel defined through proximal and distal ends thereof. Each resilient finger of the cover terminates in a distal shoulder and the cover includes a pair of opposed slots defined within sidewalls of the channel configured to slidably retain the clip tray and the plurality of surgical clips therein. A reposable surgical clip applier is also provided.
Medical instrument
A medical instrument comprising a device for activating or deactivating a function of the instrument. The device comprises first and second parts, which are each movable into an operative position relative to the other part to activate or deactivate a function of the instrument. A second control element for moving the second part into the operative position provides a control portion and comprises, for moving the first part into the operative position, a first control element which provides an additional control portion. The first control element can be moved in an opposite direction the direction from the second control element. Accordingly, the function is activated by moving a control element in a distal direction, and by moving another control element in a proximal direction. A deflection of force by one actuating element for actuating the first part or the second part in the opposite direction is not necessary.
Devices, systems and methods for transmitting motion to the distal tip of an endoscopic accessory tool
The present disclosure relates generally to the field of medical devices and establishing access to body passageways. In particular, the present disclosure relates to devices, systems and methods to facilitate entry of an endoscopic accessory tool into and/or through patient-specific anatomies. For example, the devices, systems and methods of the present disclosure may transmit mechanical motion to the distal end of an endoscopic accessory tool to facilitate atraumatic access to tortuous or otherwise restricted anatomies.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENT
Surgical instrument is provided. The surgical instrument is capable of being operated manually or automatically for use in laparoscopic surgery or various surgeries and includes a locking device capable of locking and/or unlocking at least one operation.
