Transport system and method for autonomous work vehicles

An autonomous work vehicle having a chassis, a power system disposed on the chassis, a field wheel system coupled to the chassis and the power system, and a hitch assembly. The power system is configured to power the autonomous work vehicle in an autonomous control mode. The field wheel system is configured to drive the autonomous work vehicle in a field in the autonomous control mode. The hitch assembly is configured to couple to a lead vehicle in a transport mode. The autonomous work vehicle may engage wheels of a transportation wheel system with a road to support the autonomous work vehicle on the road. The autonomous work vehicle may be coupled via the hitch assembly to the lead vehicle, then transported on a road. A brake system of the transportation wheel system may be coupled to the lead vehicle.

Trailer moving system

A system for supporting a trailer mover in a fixed spatial relationship to the wheels of a trailer is provided. The system has embodiments handling both independent and non-independent suspension; movers mounted either before or aft the wheels; and, movers mounted on either left hand or right hand wheels. The system attaches to the sprung portion of the trailer suspension to provide the fixed spatial relationship. Adjustable components provide longitudinal and lateral adjustment of the position of the trailer mover to cater for different proximal wheel and suspension geometries.

When the vehicle combination is formed, the two autonomous vehicles are connected via a communications connection and the first autonomous vehicle automatically controls the motion of the second autonomous vehicle via the communication connection.

A method, for a trailer brake control device of a vehicle trailer with an electric drive, includes receiving at least one acceleration request signal with a requested positive acceleration or a requested negative acceleration and further receiving a status signal with at least one status variable of the electric drive of the vehicle trailer. The method also includes generating, with a controller of the trailer brake control device, at least one brake actuation signal for at least one friction brake of the vehicle trailer and a torque request signal for the electric drive, each based on the at least one acceleration request signal and the status signal. Furthermore, the method includes outputting the brake actuation signal and the torque request signal via at least one output and/or at least one interface of the trailer brake control device.
