In a puncture needle gripping device that grips a puncture needle that punctures a target in a patient's body and a puncture robot having the puncture needle gripping device, a puncture needle gripping device that can release the puncture needle gripped by the puncture needle gripping device by a remote control, and a puncture robot having the puncture needle gripping device are provided. A puncture needle gripping device includes a first finger and a second finger that pinches a proximal end of a puncture needle therebetween, and a releasing mechanism that grips the puncture needle by pinching the proximal end of the puncture needle between the first finger and the second finger and releases the puncture needle by separating the first finger and the second finger from each other by remote control.
Patella Clamp
Disclosed herein is a patella clamp configured to grip a patient's patella. The patella clamp includes a clamping assembly, a ratchet arm assembly, and a handle assembly. The clamping assembly includes first and second patella grip portions mounted in opposing relationship. In use, actuation of the handle assembly moves the second patella grip portion towards the first patella grip portion to clamp the patient's patella. The handle assembly is configured to be moveably adjustable (e.g., rotatable) relative to the clamping assembly. For example, each of the first and second patella grip portions are coupled to mating features mounted on the ratchet arm assembly. Decoupling of the mating features allows the first and second patella grip portions to rotate about the longitudinal axis of the ratchet arm assembly. Thus arranged, the patella clamp is configured to enable the surgeon to reposition the handle assembly to provide increased visibility, etc.
Ingress-egress apparatus for protection of surgical field during removal of surgical implants, and related methods
An ingress-egress apparatus for protection of a surgical work site during removal of a surgical implant therefrom includes an inverted frustum surface having a sidewall defining: a bottom open area at a base portion of the frustum surface sidewall, and an opposing top open area at a top portion of the frustum surface sidewall. The top open area has a larger area than the bottom open area. The apparatus includes an ingress port located at the base portion of the frustum surface sidewall and an egress port located at the base portion of the frustum surface sidewall. During surgical removal of the surgical implant using a surgical burr, the apparatus can be used to irrigate the work site, thereby cooling it and protecting it from damage, and further removing metal implant particles generated during burring.
HAND GRIP APPARATUS FOR RECEIVING OPERATOR INPUT IN A ROBOTIC SURGERY SYSTEM
A hand grip apparatus for receiving operator input includes a body having a proximal end and a distal interface end for coupling to an input apparatus. A first control lever is attached to the body and extends away from the proximal end and terminates in a finger grip for receiving one of the operator's fingers. A second control lever is attached to the body and extends away from the proximal end terminating in a thumb grip for receiving the operator's thumb. Movement of at least one of the control levers is operable to produce a first control signal representing the movement. An input control is included on the body between the grip ends and has an actuator surface angled towards the finger grip end and configured to produce a second control signal in response to actuation by one of the operator's fingers.
BREAST SUBCUTANEOUS TISSUE SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS
A dilator configured for separating subcutaneous fat from glandular tissue includes a center section, a first end section extending from a first end of the center section, the first end section extending nonparallel to the center section, the first end section having a first diameter, and a second end section extending from a second end of the center section opposite the first end, the second end section extending nonparallel to the center section, the second end section having a second diameter different than the first diameter. A retractor includes a handle, a shaft extending from the handle, and a head located at a shaft end opposite the handle. The head includes a plurality of teeth, each tooth having a tooth end curving downwardly from a head outer surface, adjacent teeth spaced from one another by a tooth gap therebetween, the plurality of teeth having unequal tooth lengths.
ATTACHMENT APPARATUS TO SECURE A MEDICAL ALIGNMENT DEVICE TO ALIGN A TOOL
An attachment apparatus is disclosed to secure a medical alignment device to align a tool. The attachment apparatus may include a base wall providing a base alignment surface for abutting or positioned adjacent a first portion or first surface of the medical alignment device. The medical alignment device operable to provide an alignment of a tool, such as a three-dimensional alignment angle of the tool, and to provide a notification when the medical alignment device aligned with the tool as desired. The attachment apparatus may include a first side wall providing a side alignment surface for abutting or adjacent a second portion or surface of the medical alignment device; and an alignment support configured to align with a portion of the tool. A method is disclosed for aligning a tool or object using an attachment apparatus.
ERGONOMIC PHACOEMULSIFICATION HANDPIECE
An apparatus, system and method for a phacoemulsification handpiece. Included are: at least a first segment having a longitudinal axis, and a first end and a second end, wherein at least aspiration, irrigation and power inputs enter the first end; a second segment along the longitudinal axis and comprising, at a distalmost portion thereof from the first segment, a needle powered by the power input, an aspiration output, and an irrigation output; a rotating coupler capable of coupling the second end of the first segment and the second segment to enable independent axial rotation about the longitudinal axis of the first segment from the second segment; and a plurality of flexible tubing passing substantially along the longitudinal axis within both the first segment and the second segment. The plurality of flexible tubing flexes within the first and second segments and within the rotating coupler so as not to bind during the independent axial rotation.
Medical device release system
A medical device system may include an elongate shaft having a lumen extending from a proximal end to a distal end, a release wire disposed within the lumen of the elongate shaft configured to releasably attach a medical device to the distal end of the elongate shaft, and a securement member releasably coupled to the proximal end of the elongate shaft and fixedly attached to a proximal end of the release wire. A proximal portion of the securement member may be configured to translate proximally away from the proximal end of the elongate shaft upon application of a proximally-directed force to the proximal portion of the securement member and radially inward directed force to the distal portion of the securement member while the elongate shaft is maintained in a fixed position.
Delivery system with an operating handle controlling a steerable catheter for the implantation of a leadless cardiac capsule
The bending of the catheter is controlled from the handle by a variable tension exerted to a steering cable housed in an offset longitudinal notch of the catheter. The handle comprises: a body adapted to be held in hand by an operator; a piston, axially mobile in rotation and in translation inside the handle body; a first mechanism with a pulley for the winding of the steering cable and a lever for modifying in a controlled manner the tension of the cable and hence controlling the steering of the catheter; and a second mechanism comprising a member for holding a security wire and a member for adjusting the axial position of this wire with respect to the internal tube of the catheter, so as to keep the security wire in tight condition whatever the bend provided to the catheter by operation of the first mechanism.
SURGICAL TOOL
A surgical tool extends in a longitudinal direction from proximal end to distal end and has a length defined by the free distance between proximal and distal ends. It includes proximal handle portion, which extends along a longitudinal handle axis towards lever portion. Said lever portion extends along longitudinal lever axis and is proximally adjacently connected to the handle portion on one hand and distally adjacently connected to foot portion on the other hand. The lever portion is positioned between the handle portion and the foot portion. The foot portion extends along a longitudinal foot axis and includes two distal tongues that extend in the longitudinal direction, such that their free distal ends point away from the handle portion. The two tongues are positioned at a distance from one another and an underside of the two tongues forms a common concave abutment surface for abutting against a pregnant woman's uterus.
