Non-pneumatic surgical tourniquet
A non-pneumatic tourniquet including a tourniquet ring configured to resiliently constrict around a body part of a subject. The tourniquet ring defines a plurality of openings. A handle moves the tourniquet ring onto the body part and includes a first strap having a first end secured to the tourniquet ring at one of the openings and a second end secured to the tourniquet ring at one of the openings. A second strap has a first end secured to the tourniquet ring at one of the openings and a second end secured to the tourniquet ring at one of the openings.
Medical instrument
A medical instrument includes a housing, a movable handle, and a spring. The movable handle is configured to move between a first position as an opened position and a second position as a closed position with respect to the housing. The spring is provided between the housing and the movable handle. The spring is configured to apply a biasing force to the housing or the movable handle. The spring is provided to alleviate an increase in the biasing force generated in the spring in response to the movable handle moving from the first position to the second position.
Deflectable endoscope and method of use
Integrated hysteroscopic treatment systems which includes an endoscopic viewing system, a fluid management system, a resecting device and a controller for operating all the systems.
Methods for controlling a powered surgical stapler that has separate rotary closure and firing systems
A method for controlling a powered surgical stapler that includes an end effector with jaws that are movable between an open and a closed position and a firing member that is movable between a starting position and an ending position within the end effector. The jaws and firing member are controlled by separate rotary systems and the end effector includes a firing member lockout system that prevents axial movement of the firing member unless the surgical staple cartridge is in ready to fire condition.
Bone material delivery system
A device for delivering a bone material to a surgical site is provided. The device comprises a body having an upper portion and a lower portion. The lower portion of the body is substantially transverse to the upper portion and has an opening for receiving a bone material. An internal chamber is disposed within the upper portion and the lower portion, and a plunger is slidably disposed in at least the internal chamber of the body. The plunger has a distal end configured for delivering the bone material out of the lower portion of the body, wherein movement of the plunger in a first position toward the lower portion of the body delivers the bone material from the lower portion of the body to the surgical site. Methods of delivering the bone material are also provided.
Wearable user interface device
Wearable user interface devices are described. A wearable user interface device can include a wearable base connected to a trackable device component by a linkage. The linkage can connect to a pivoted support that the trackable device is mounted on, and which maintains poses when the user interface device is not manipulated by a user's hand. The pivoted support has several orthogonal axes intersecting at a center of rotation located inside a device body of the trackable device. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.
Shaft attachment feature for circular surgical stapler
An apparatus includes a body, a shaft, and a stapling head assembly. The shaft extends distally from the body and includes a coupling feature. The coupling feature includes threading or at least one barb. The stapling head assembly is configured to cut and staple tissue. The stapling head assembly is positioned at a distal end of the shaft. The stapling head assembly includes a knife member and a body member. The knife member includes a circular cutting edge configured to cut through tissue. The body member is configured to house the knife member. The body member includes a coupling feature that is configured to mechanically couple with the coupling feature of the shaft. The coupling feature of the body member includes threading or at least one barb.
APPARATUS FOR ENDOSCOPIC PROCEDURES
A surgical device includes a jaw assembly defining a first longitudinal axis and including a first jaw and a second jaw moveable relative to the first jaw; an elongated body defining a second longitudinal axis and coupled to a proximal end of the jaw assembly, wherein the jaw assembly is configured to articulate about an articulation axis transverse to the second longitudinal axis relative to the elongated body; and a handle assembly coupled to a proximal end of the elongated body and including at least one motor mechanically coupled to the jaw assembly and a control assembly including a first control button and a second control button, wherein actuation of the first control button moves the second jaw in approximation relative to the first jaw and actuating the second control button moves the second jaw away from the first jaw, and actuating the first and second control buttons moves the jaw assembly to a centered position in which the first and second longitudinal axes are substantially aligned, the handle assembly further includes an illumination member configured to output a light pattern indicative of a status of the surgical instrument.
SURGICAL STAPLER HANDLE ASSEMBLY HAVING ACTUATION MECHANISM WITH LONGITUDINALLY ROTATABLE SHAFT
A handle assembly for a surgical stapler can comprise a rotatable actuation shaft. The actuation shaft can have a first rotational orientation in which it can actuate a jaw assembly in a repeatable open and close mode, a second rotational orientation in which it can actuate a jaw assembly in a staple firing mode, and a third rotational orientation in which it can actuate a jaw assembly in a reversing mode. The handle assembly can include a rotational mechanism arranged to discretely position the rotatable actuation shaft in one of the rotational orientations. The rotational mechanism can be arranged for single handed operation such as by including a slidable switch or selector to rotate the actuation shaft.
SMART CARTRIDGE WAKE UP OPERATION AND DATA RETENTION
An electronic system for a surgical instrument is disclosed. The electronic system comprises a main power supply circuit configured to supply electrical power to a primary circuit. A supplementary power supply circuit configured to supply electrical power to a secondary circuit. A short circuit protection circuit coupled between the main power supply circuit and the supplementary power supply circuit. The supplementary power supply circuit is configured to isolate itself from the main power supply circuit when the supplementary power supply circuit detects a short circuit condition at the secondary circuit. The supplementary power supply circuit is configured to rejoin the main power supply circuit and supply power to the secondary circuit, when the short circuit condition is remedied.
