Methods for understanding external and internal anatomy of bones through the use of imaging data and 3D modeling to facilitate the design of anatomically correct plates, devices and implants are disclosed. In one aspect the method results in an implant or plate that includes at least one curved surface wherein a contour of the at least one curved surface corresponds to an anatomic shape of a subject. The anatomic shape of the subject being determined based on an image of the bone.

MULTI-MODAL PATIENT-SPECIFIC SURGICAL GUIDES
20220370083 · 2022-11-24 · ·

A surgical device includes a first body component including at least one insert embedded therein and a second body component including a patient-specific surface. The first body component includes a first material and the at least one insert includes a second material. The first body component defines at least one first hole and the second body component defines at least one second hole. The second body component is configured to be coupled to the first body component such that the at least one first hole and the at least one second hole are aligned when the first body component is coupled to the second body component to define at least one continuous fixation hole sized and configured to receive an elongate fixation device at a predetermined location.

SURGICAL GUIDES AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURE AND USE

Medical devices may include a patient-engaging section and an instrument-engaging section positioned on a body of the device and the methods of forming such devices. Medical devices described herein may include resection guides, resection guide locators, and/or instruments for use in surgical methods. Devices described herein may have sections that are complementary to a natural anatomical surface of a target area of bone of a predetermined patient. In some instances, a resection guide and resection guide locator may have portions configured to couple the resection guide to the resection guide locator. Resection guides and/or resection guide locators may include openings for receiving an instrument or tool during an operation on the predetermined patient target area of bone.

DISSIMILAR STAPLE CARTRIDGES WITH DIFFERENT BIOABSORBABLE COMPONENTS
20220370065 · 2022-11-24 ·

Stapling devices and staple cartridges are disclosed. A stapling device can include a jaw configured to sequentially receive a plurality of dissimilar staple cartridges having different bioabsorbable components. An adjustment module can implement a firing control algorithm based on which dissimilar staple cartridge is received in the jaw. A staple cartridge can include staples comprised of a bioabsorbable metal alloy and configured to degrade at a staple degradation rate over an expected staple life in the patient. A staple cartridge can also include an implantable layer comprised of a bioabsorbable polymer and configured to degrade at a layer degradation rate over an expected layer life in the patient. The staple degradation rate and the implantable degradation rate can be different. The implantable layer can mechanically support at least a portion of a staple for a time in the expected staple life.

METHOD FOR DELIVERING A STAPLE IN SITU PAIRED TO THE IN SITU ENVIRONMENT
20220370064 · 2022-11-24 ·

A method of pairing bioabsorbable staples in a staple cartridge with the tissue being treated such that the staples are structurally sufficient during the healing window of the tissue but completely bioabsorb shortly thereafter.

ENDOSCOPY INSTRUMENT
20220370058 · 2022-11-24 ·

An endoscopy instrument is configured to be adjustable between a retracted position and an extended position. The endoscopy instrument includes a snare forming a loop extending from a proximate end to a distal end and a plurality of basket wires. Each of the basket wires includes a proximate end coupled to the proximate end of the snare and a distal end coupled to the distal end of the snare. The snare and the plurality of the basket wires cooperate to form a basket portion configured to contract when the endoscopy instrument is adjusted from the extended position towards the retracted position during entry of the basket portion into a tubular member. The contracting of the basket portion aids in grasping an object in need of retrieval from a patient.

VASO-OCCLUSIVE DEVICES

A vaso-occlusive device, includes: a vaso-occlusive structure configured for implantation in an aneurysm sac, the vaso-occlusive structure having a delivery configuration when restrained within a delivery catheter and having a deployed configuration when released from the delivery catheter into the aneurysmal sac, at least a portion of the vaso-occlusive structure being composed of a AuPtW (gold-platinum-tungsten) alloy; wherein the AuPtW alloy comprises platinum within a range between 25% and 40% by weight, and wherein the AuPtW alloy comprises tungsten within a range between 0.01% and 10% by weight.

JAILED AIRWAY DETECTION AND AIRWAY STENT HOLE CUTTING GUIDE

A bronchial stent includes a first branch configured to widen, open, and/or mechanically support a first airway; an obstructive portion that, when the stent is deployed in the first airway, obstructs a second airway, the second airway forming a branching connection with the first airway; and a feature proximal to the obstructive portion, the feature configured to facilitate opening of the obstructive portion.
