Single use integrated speed reduction and gearless device
A single use integrated disposable rotational speed reduction assembly having a shaft assembly, a housing, an output assembly, and a plurality of planetary gears each having a plurality of gear teeth. The shaft assembly is configured to cause rotation of the planetary gears with a sun gear. The rotation of the planetary gears is configured to cause rotation of an output shaft, with a reduction of rotational speed relative to the rotation of the shaft assembly. One or more gear components or spacers can be configured to fail after a predetermined number of use cycles.
Disposable integrated speed reduction and gearless high torque device
An integrated disposable rotational speed reduction assembly having a shaft assembly, a housing, an output assembly, and a plurality of planetary gears each having a plurality of gear teeth. The shaft assembly is configured to cause rotation of the planetary gears with a sun gear. The rotation of the planetary gears is configured to cause rotation of an output shaft, with a reduction of rotational speed relative to the rotation of the shaft assembly.
ABSORBABLE SURGICAL COIL FASTENER
A surgical fastener deployment system may include a plurality of coil fasteners having a head and coil body. In some embodiments, the head is comprised of a bioabsorbable polymer. In one embodiment, the coil body may be comprised of a shell and a core and one of the shell and the core may be comprised of one of a magnesium alloy or a bioabsorbable polymer, and the other of the shell and core is formed of the other of the magnesium alloy and the bioabsorbable polymer. The coil body may also include an internal channel which may have a support coil disposed within.
Collagen constructs and methods of making the same
The present disclosure describes a medical construct. The medical construct includes a first layer comprising an array of collagen fibers, the first layer forming a core of the medical construct, and a second layer comprising a plurality of braided collagen fibers, wherein the second layer surrounds the core of the medical construct. In some embodiments, the medical construct may further include a third layer comprising a plurality of braided collagen fibers, wherein the third layer surrounds the second layer. Methods of manufacturing a medical construct also provided.
Pre-loaded inverting tractor thrombectomy apparatuses and methods
Mechanical thrombectomy apparatuses including an inverting, rolling conveyor region (“tractor”) at the distal end that are configured to grab and remove thrombus material. In particular, described herein are mechanical thrombectomy apparatuses that are adapted to prevent premature deployment of the tractor, e.g., by including a tractor hold (e.g., a housing, a lock, a clamp, etc.) or the like to secure the outer end of the tractor against and/or relative to the elongate inversion support.
SKELETAL SUPPORT MEMBER
This invention relates to a skeletal support member (1) and more specifically, but not exclusively, to a skeletal support member (1) for use in spinal or intramedullary surgery. In accordance with the invention there is provided a skeletal support member (1) comprising an elongate body with integrally formed inner (2) and outer (3) portions, at least one mechanical attribute of the inner portion (2) differing from a corresponding mechanical attribute of the outer portion (3), and the inner portion (2) being shaped and sized such that a corresponding mechanical attribute of the body varies longitudinally. It is envisaged that the invention will provide a skeletal support member (1) which has varying mechanical properties along the length thereof in at least one direction which may be specifically tailored to allow specific movement and apply corrective forces and moments which are bespoke to a patient.
VIBRATION TRANSMISSION MEMBER, ULTRASONIC TREATMENT INSTRUMENT, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING VIBRATION TRANSMISSION MEMBER
A vibration transmission member includes a main body, a treatment portion that is provided at the distal end of the main body, a first covering formed of a material that has an electrical insulating property and has a thermal conductivity lower than a thermal conductivity of the main body, which covers a part of a surface of the treatment portion, and a second covering formed of a material that has an electrical insulating property and has a thermal conductivity lower than the thermal conductivity of the main body. The second covering is integrally formed with at least a part of the first covering and varies in thickness in a circumferential direction of the main body. The second covering includes a first area and a second area in the circumferential direction, such that a thickness dimension of the first area is smaller than a thickness dimension of the second area.
Surgical instruments and jaw members thereof
A jaw member for use with a surgical instrument includes a support base, a jaw liner, and a jaw overmold. The support base has a proximal portion configured to be pivotably coupled to a surgical instrument, and a distal portion. The support base defines a channel that extends longitudinally between the proximal and distal portions and an aperture disposed in communication with the channel. The jaw liner includes an elongate body configured for receipt in the channel of the support base, and a projection extending from the elongate body and configured for receipt in the aperture of the support base. The jaw overmold overlaps at least a portion of the support base and the jaw liner to fix the jaw liner to the support base.
AN EMBOLIZATION DEVICE FOR PROMOTING CLOT FORMATION IN A BODILY LUMEN AND A METHOD OF ASSEMBLING SAID EMBOLIZATION DEVICE
An embolization device (10) for promoting clot formation in a bodily lumen and having a contracted delivery configuration and an expanded deployed configuration. The embolization device (10) has a stem (30) and a plurality of flexible bristles (20) extending radially outwardly from the stem (30), the stem (30) comprising: a first wire element (31); a second wire element (32); a tubular interconnect (33) having a lumen and connecting the first wire element (31) to the second wire element (32), the first wire element (31) and the second wire element (32) being disposed within the lumen of the tubular interconnect (33); and a reinforcing sleeve (50) being fixedly disposed over at least part of the tubular interconnect (33) and fixedly disposed over at least part of one or both of the first wire element (31) and the second wire element (32). The reinforcing sleeve (50) has a lower stiffness than the tubular interconnect (33).
Colpotomy cup assembly
A medical device for performing a hysterectomy is provided. The medical device has a tissue incision assembly that includes a first cup nested within a second cup. The tissue incision assembly also includes a spacer assembly between the first cup and the second cup in order to maintain a spacing between the first and second cups. The tissue incision assembly also has a cutting implement that has a portion extending between, and movable with respect to, the first and second cups. The cutting implement can provide a circular cut guided via the spacing between the first and second cups.
