Leaning-Type Vehicle

A leaning vehicle includes a vehicle body, a left front wheel, a right front wheel, a lean mechanism, a lean brake mechanism, a steering handle, a left grip, a throttle grip, a lean brake manipulator. The lean mechanism causes the left front wheel and the right front wheel to lean about a front-rear direction as a rotation center when the vehicle body leans about the front-rear direction as a rotation center. The lean brake mechanism brakes the leaning operation by the lean mechanism while the leaning vehicle is traveling. The lean brake manipulator is positioned at a first side in the vehicle width direction, changes a position integrally with the left grip, and for performing an operation of actuating the lean brake mechanism to brake.

VEHICLE

A vehicle including a first member rotatably supporting a rear wheel, a second member disposed in front of the first member, and a coupling member disposed between the first member and the second member and fixed to the first member and the second member to support the first member and the second member swingably in a left-right direction about an axial line in a front-rear direction. The coupling member is provided so that a position of the post-swing ground contact point is closer to the axial line than a position of the post-swing ground contact point in the left-right direction before the first member swings, the ground contact point being a center in an area on a surface of the rear wheel in contact with a road surface, the post-swing ground contact point being the ground contact point after the first member swings about the axial line.

VEHICLE WITH A STABILITY SYSTEM THAT COMPENSATES FOR THE CENTRIFUGAL FORCE AND THE TRANSVERSE COMPONENT OF THE INERTIA FORCE WHEN CORNERING
20220355884 · 2022-11-10 ·

The present invention is a minimum size, maneuverable, comfortable, safe, and inexpensive compact vehicle, having a higher level of cornering/turning stability than the current state of the art. The inventive design may be applied to two-, three-, and four- (or more) wheeled vehicles. The invention may be utilized in the design of the main components of vehicles providing an increased stability during turning, even at high speeds, based on fixed and moveable chassis portions which swing in relation to one another and novel linking mechanisms connected with large and/or wide wheel portions.

A tilting, preferably three-wheeled, vehicle is disclosed that has a tilting mechanism and a universal steering linkage that allows the vehicle to have leaning and steering characteristics substantially similar to those offered by an in-line two-wheeled vehicle, but that does not require complex linkages and/or control systems to operate effectively. A tilting linkage is operably secured to a frame to allow a pair of spaced apart wheels to remain substantially aligned with the plane of the vehicle throughout its range of movement while still providing an increasing camber between the wheels as tiling of the vehicle increases. A tilting lock system may be provide to limit tilting of the vehicle upon predetermined criteria.
