AUTOMATIC BRAKE DEVICE FOR SADDLE RIDING TYPE VEHICLE
20170028971 · 2017-02-02 ·

A brake modulator controls actuation of front and rear brakes, and includes a collision possibility determining unit, an automatic brake control unit, and a brake operation determining unit. When the collision possibility determining unit determines that there is a possibility of collision, and the brake operation determining unit determines that brake operation by a driver is absent, the automatic brake control unit first actuates only the rear brake to generate a rear wheel braking force, and also actuates the front brake 2 to generate a front wheel braking force.

BRAKE DEVICE AND STRADDLED VEHICLE

During control ON of a brake control device, an ECU acquires a front wheel target braking force and a rear wheel target braking force from operation amount-front/rear wheel target braking force characteristics stored in a storage based on a master cylinder pressure detected by a master pressure sensor, and controls an oil pressure unit such that oil pressures corresponding to the acquired front wheel target braking force and rear wheel target braking force are respectively supplied to a front wheel brake and a rear wheel brake. During control OFF of the brake control device, oil pressures generated by a tandem master cylinder are directly supplied to the front wheel brake and the rear wheel brake. Hydraulic pressure control is performed such that operation amount-both wheels target braking force characteristics in a control ON state is equal to operation amount-both wheels target braking characteristics during a control OFF state.

A motorcycle braking arrangement comprising a brake lever (and/or brake pedal) defining a grasping or stepping surface, respectively, whereby a rider is able to apply pressure in order to produce a first analogue signal, a force-sensitive resistor (FSR) mounted on and/or in the surface and configured to produce a second analogue signal. In this manner, pressure applied to the grasping surface results in simultaneous production of the first and second signals, whereby a controller is configured to electronically correlate the second signal with the first. The arrangement also includes at least one servomechanism, which is arranged in signal communication with the controller and is configured to actuate a brake of the motorcycle according to the correlation between the first and second signals.

The present invention is directed towards a disk braking system for a bicycle having a rear disk coupled to a rear wheel. A rear brake caliper is coupled to a rear brake lever and the rear brake caliper is also coupled to a hydraulic actuator which has a piston that slides within a cylinder filled with hydraulic fluid and hydraulic tubing coupled to the cylinder and a front brake. When the rear wheel and rear disk are rotating, the rear brake caliper can be actuated which causes compresses rear brake caliper against the rear disk to slow the rotation of the rear wheel. The movement of the rear brake caliper can actuate the hydraulic actuator which causes hydraulic fluid to flow through the hydraulic tubing to actuate a front brake.
