Various embodiments for measuring and interpreting a vessel operator's intent and control inputs are disclosed. Various stations on a vessel comprise user control devices to receive vessel control commands from a vessel operator in conjunction with associated transducer information capturing physical conditions or attributes of the operator at, or proximate to, one of the user control devices. A processor determines whether the vessel control command was deliberate, based on the physical condition or the attribute captured by the transducer. Upon determination of a valid user control input, the processor optionally performs transformation of the user vessel control command based on an operator identity and vessel environmental factors, and then sends a corresponding control command to one or more vessel physical control devices, such as a rudder or an engine.

The authentication unit stores information for causing the outboard motor control unit to permit an engine start in order to enable setting of an unlock state in which the engine start is permitted without authentication of ID information of an electronic key and a child lock state in which the engine start is permitted by performing a predetermined release operation without necessity of authenticating the ID information of the electric key.

An anti-piracy device for ships comprises a blocking device, such as a metal plate, to block an opening from the exterior to the interior of a ship, such as a window or porthole. The anti-piracy device also includes mounts, which are mounted permanently to the interior wall of the ship, to which the blocking device can be removably fastened, by nuts or the like. This allows the device to be installed when entering dangerous waters, but removed and stored when traversing safe waters.

A personal watercraft includes a watercraft body provided with a deck, a hood, and a locking mechanism. The deck includes a driver boarding portion and an opening forming portion where an opening is formed forward of the driver boarding portion and an engine room is partitioned below the opening. The hood, to which a steering shaft is attached to cause a handle to be exposed upward, covers the opening from above to allow opening and closing by pivoting with respect to the deck by using a front end supported by the opening forming portion as a fulcrum. The locking mechanism is a mechanism that fixes the rear end of the hood to the deck with the opening closed, and includes a first locking part and a second locking part disposed with spacing in the left-right direction.

At least a portion of a setting pattern of functions relating to a boat is automatically changed in response to execution of activation operations different from one another. The boat includes a controller configured or programmed to activate the boat by each of a plurality of different activation operations. When an activation operation of the activation operations satisfying a first condition is executed, the controller sets functions relating to the boat with the first setting pattern. When an activation operation not satisfying the first condition is executed, the controller sets functions relating to the boat with a second setting pattern having setting contents at least partially different from the first setting pattern.
