Controlled failure point for a rope or mooring loop and method of use thereof
11597476 · 2023-03-07 ·

A mooring loop is operative to secure a movable device such as a ship in connection with a bollard or other fixed structure. The exemplary mooring loop includes a continuous rope segment that includes at least one coil or a plurality of coils. The rope segment defining the mooring loop includes an inner core surrounded by an outer jacket. A plurality of controlled failure points are included in the rope segment. The failure points enable the rope segment to permanently elongate in response to an applied tension force at a level above a working range, which elongation is visibly observable. The controlled failure point is defined between segmented ends of a severed inner core such that only the outer jacket is located at the controlled failure point.

The present invention provides a string-type mooring system. A support frame is provided on a dock. Two free guide rollers are provided at vertical corresponding positions that are respectively below a cross arm of the support frame and above the dock. The two free guide rollers are respectively wound with a cable. One end of each cable is connected to a platform arm fixed on a platform, and the other end thereof is horizontally connected with one end of a spring. The other ends of the two springs are respectively connected with a hydraulic device. The present invention provides an omnidirectional restoring force for the moored platform through the elastic deformation of the springs to control the movement response of the platform within a certain range. The present invention can adjust the slow change of the vertical position of the platform caused by tidal fluctuation.

Release system for a tether line

A release system for a tether line includes a housing having a side that is at least partially open. A tether lead within the housing is adjacent to the side of the housing. A release mechanism in the housing includes a shackle having a closed end and an open end. The shackle is disposed in the housing at a portion therein that is lower than that of the tether lead. The release mechanism also includes a hinge for mounting the shackle within the housing. In a tether-retention mode, the open end of the shackle faces the top of the housing and the shackle is prevented from rotation about the hinge. In a tether-release mode, the shackle is free to rotate about the hinge under gravity wherein the open end of the shackle rotates to face the side of the housing.

A kayak anchor support system includes a first support arm having a first end opposite a second end, wherein the first support arm is removably securable to a kayak via at least one mounting bracket. A proximal end of a second support arm is affixed to the first support arm adjacent to the first end. The second support arm extends orthogonally from the first support arm such that a distal end of the second support arm is maintained in an elevated position above the kayak. A pulley is affixed to the distal end of the second support arm. An anchor cable is engaged with each of the pulley and a reel, wherein the reel is disposed opposite the pulley. An anchor is affixed to a terminal end of the anchor cable, whereupon actuation of the reel, the anchor is selectively movable between a raised position and a lowered positioned.
