Line intended to be immersed in an aquatic environment
A line intended to be submerged in an aquatic environment. The line includes a mooring configured to be placed on the bottom of the aquatic environment and for immobilizing the line relative to the bottom, a buoy configured to float on the surface of the aquatic environment, an object extending along a vertical axis, having a center of balance of hydrodynamic forces when the object is subjected to a horizontal water current and called the hydrodynamic center, and having a center of gravity vertically remote from the hydrodynamic center, a frame connected to the object by a pivoting link with a substantially horizontal axis passing through the hydrodynamic center, at least one fin extending vertically, whereby the object can be oriented relative to a horizontal water current, a first section of line connecting the mooring to the frame, a second section of line connecting the frame to the buoy.
REAL-TIME WAVE MONITORING AND SENSING METHODS AND SYSTEMS
Devices, systems and methods for real-time wave monitoring are described. One example system for real-time monitoring of wave conditions includes a plurality of buoys, wherein each of the plurality of buoys comprises a sensor array configured to continuously monitor one or more characteristics of the wave conditions, a transceiver configured to transmit, to a remote server, information corresponding to the one or more characteristics of the wave conditions over a wireless communication channel, and a tether that physically couples the buoy to an anchor, wherein the information from each of the plurality of buoys is combined with a user preference to provide a user with a message regarding the wave conditions in response to a user request, and wherein a duration between the user request and transmission of the information from each of the plurality of buoys is less than a predetermined value.
BATHYTHERMOGRAPH BUOY AND ASSOCIATED METHOD OF OPERATION
A bathythermograph buoy and an associated method of operation are provided to measure temperature and/or optionally other parameter(s) within an ocean or another body of water. A bathythermograph buoy includes a housing and one or more sensors carried by the housing and configured to repeatedly measure one or more respective parameters as the bathythermograph buoy descends. The bathythermograph buoy of one example also includes a memory carried by the housing and configured to store representations of the one or more respective parameters measured by the one or more sensors. The bathythermograph buoy further includes a buoyancy modification device configured to increase buoyancy of the bathythermograph buoy to permit the bathythermograph buoy to ascend.
DEVICE WITH WATER-ACTIVATED, AUTOMATIC DISCONNECT
A technique for managing an attachment between first and second portions of a device. The technique includes a retaining component having a first state in which the retaining component maintains the attachment between the first and second portions by virtue of a rigid characteristic and a second state in which the retaining component loses the rigid characteristic and no longer maintains the attachment. The retaining component transitions from the first state to the second state upon exposure to liquid water.
MODULAR SENSING DEVICE, SYSTEM, AND METHOD
A technique provides a modular sensing device having multiple separable modules attached end to end. The modules are selectable based on mission requirements, with different modules and combinations thereof selected for different mission types and/or requirements.
Data Retrieval and Transmitting Marine Exploration Vessel Systems
A Data Transmitting Marine Vessel System (DRTMEVS) that deploys and provisions the operation of both an aerial visual and data collection drone and an underwater camera and data collection system ROV to gather data at, above, and below the surface of the water simultaneously or individually, or in multiples. The vessel having geodetic and GPS guidance systems that determine the course and actions of the crafts either in a pre-programmed autonomous mode or from a remote operator. The control of the three separate remotely controlled data collection systems and craft are consolidated in the form of a vessel of (DRTMEVS) and monitored via a multitude of possible signals anywhere in the world from a control center.
ROV deployed buoy system
A surface buoy comprising a resident electrical power supply allows the surface buoy to be an integrated part of a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) deployed power buoy system which makes transport and installation more efficient than alternatives. The ROV deployed power system can be operational via built in radio link and kept operational during service, transport, testing, installation, and operation.
Marine monitoring buoy with improved structure
A marine monitoring buoy with an improved structure belongs to the technical field of marine buoys. The marine monitoring buoy includes a first buoy body, a cylindrical portion and a conical portion. A vertical through hole is disposed in the first buoy body, a horizontal through hole is disposed in an upper part of the cylindrical portion, an upper end of the vertical through hole extends to the cylindrical portion and is in communication with the horizontal through hole, a lower end of the vertical through hole penetrates through the conical portion, a wind power generator is disposed in the vertical through hole, two guiding grooves are disposed on a side wall of a lower part of the vertical through hole, a metal piston rod is disposed in the vertical through hole.
DEPLOYABLE UNDERWATER DEVICE
An underwater device intended to be deployed in the water, the device includes a set of arms articulated to a support body having a reference axis r, the arms being able to be kept in a furled configuration and able to deploy into a deployed configuration wherein the arms extend about the reference axis r, the arms deploying by distal ends of the arms moving away from the axis r, a set of at least one bending spring stressed elastically in bending when the arms are kept in a furled configuration and able to relax when the arms are released from the furled configuration, the set of at least one bending spring being configured and arranged in such a way as to exert, on at least one of the arms, when the arms are released from the furled configuration, a thrust that instigates the deploying of the arms.
ELECTRICALLY-ACTIVATED PRESSURE VESSELS FOR FRACTURING FRANGIBLE STRUCTURES
An apparatus includes a pressure device bonded to the surface of a structure at a bonding location. The vessel comprises an interior space within the vessel and a bonding surface. A bonding agent bonds the bonding surface of the vessel to a surface of the structure. A gas-emitting material is disposed within the interior space of the vessel and an initiator is arranged to activate the gas-emitting material. Upon activation of the gas-emitting material by the initiator, the pressure device produces a localized force that breaks the structure.
