LOWER BEARING FOR MOORING ASSEMBLY FOR A VESSEL
20170240250 · 2017-08-24 ·

A mooring assembly for a vessel comprises a moonpool having a casing, a turret mounted in a moonpole for a rotation by upper and lower bearing assemblies. The lower bearing assembly comprises a stiff inner bearing ring attached to a lower part of the turret, an outer bearing ring attached to a casing of the moonpool and a number of circumferentially spaced bearing blocks positioned between the inner and outer bearing rings. A mounting assembly maintains a substantially fixed position of the bearing blocks relative to the outer bearing ring but allows the bearing blocks to assume a position where the load transfer between the bearing blocks and outer bearing ring occurs with a minimum of stress concentrations within the outer bearing ring and wherein the larger part of the load transfer occurs directly between the bearing blocks and outer bearing ring without being directed through the mounting assembly.

Articulated multiple buoy marine platform apparatus and method of installation
09815531 · 2017-11-14 ·

A marine platform (and method of installation) provides a plurality of buoys of special configuration, a platform having a peripheral portion that includes a plurality of attachment positions, one attachment position for each buoy, and an articulating connection that connects each buoy to the platform at a respective attachment position, the connection allowing for sea state induced buoy motions while minimizing effect on the platform. A method of installation places the platform (including oil and gas drilling and/or production facility) next to the buoys. Ballasting moves the platform and buoys relative to one another until connections are perfected between each buoy and the platform.

Offloading hydrocarbons from subsea fields

An offloading system for conveying hydrocarbons from a buoyancy-supported subsea riser to a surface tanker vessel comprises a flexible hose that hangs from the riser structure in a U-shape having first and second limbs. An upper end of the first limb communicates with the riser and an upper end of the second limb terminates in a pulling head for connecting the hose to the tanker. A clump weight acts on a lowermost bend of the hose between the limbs to maintain tension in the limbs. A subsurface holder fixed to the riser structure is arranged to hold the pulling head against the tension in the second limb of the hose when the system is in a standby state. The holder is offset laterally from a central longitudinal axis of the riser structure and a counterweight is positioned to a side of that axis opposed to the holder.

Wave energy converter with surface electric grid

An energy farm having an electrical grid through which power generated by the devices in the farm may be combined and transmitted. The electrical grid is formed through the electrical interconnection of devices in a farm through electrical connections that remain, in whole or at least in part, adjacent to the surface of the body of water on which the devices float. A plurality of converters of the network have no direct or immediate electrical interface with a subsea power cable (i.e. a cable on or under the seafloor), but instead transmit electricity to other converters in a daisy-chained fashion.
