ROV Deployed Buoy System
20190375482 · 2019-12-12 · ·

A surface buoy comprising a resident electrical power supply allows the surface buoy to be an integrated part of a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) deployed power buoy system which makes transport and installation more efficient than alternatives. The ROV deployed power system can be operational via built in radio link and kept operational during service, transport, testing, installation, and operation.

Covert data delivery system for sub-surface oceanographic moorings

A system and method for sending instrument data from a sub-surface activity, such as data collection by one or more sensors, to another location, e.g., a satellite, a ground-based location, a vessel, etc., with minimal time exposure and minimal visibility of any system components at the water surface. Exemplary embodiments include a motorized payout-and-retrieval system or device, an air injection device, and a water-level sensor with automation control that together can be used to move a vessel, connected to an antenna, from a position in the water column in which the antenna is below the surface to a higher position in which the antenna is at or above the surface for data transmission.

Automatic retractable float

The invention relates to an automatic retractable float for use with a crab net including a body which floats in water and an automatic retraction and extension mechanism for automatically extending and retracting line from the body. In use the line is attached to the crab net, the crab net deployed and the body floats when in water towards the surface of the water. The automatic extension and retraction mechanism causes the line to be extended and retracted between the body on the surface of the water and the crab net, substantially keeping the line taut to help prevent tangling. The invention also relates to a method of use.

A camera buoy defining a pentahedral body holds a camera in position to view a lure trailing the buoy. The buoy has a leader attached at two points, with preference for one given to an attachment bolt joining the camera and the buoy and having two eyelets for attachment to a main line and a lure line. An elastic band may interface with the second attachment point and further secure the camera. A sinker may be attached to a weaker lure line to sink the buoy and allow retrieval if the weaker line breaks. The buoy may be used with or without a lure.
