MINIMALLY INVASIVE DISSECTOR FOR INTER-LAYER PROCEDURES

A device for minimally invasive, inter-layer surgical procedures advantageously forms a wedge for advancing between adjacent tissue layers and provides a jaw that can be actuated to create a working space for a cutting tool and other instruments within a plane between the tissue layers. The device may also usefully employ an open or wireframe structure for the opposing jaws to preventing tissue or fluid accumulation between the jaws and maximize visibility around the surgical site.

Methods and apparatus for removing material from within a mammalian cavity using an insertable endoscopic instrument

An endoscope for removing tissue at a surgical site includes an elongated tubular body insertable within a mammalian cavity of a patient. An instrument channel extends between a first opening at a distal end and a second opening at a proximal end of the tubular body and is sized and configured to receive a surgical cutting assembly that includes an aspiration channel configured to remove material entering the endoscope via a distal end of the surgical cutting assembly. A torque generation component configured to generate torque is positioned within the distal end and configured to provide the generated torque to a coupling component. The coupling component is positioned at the distal end of the elongated tubular member and configured to actuate a cutting component of the surgical cutting assembly responsive to actuation of the torque generation component.

Methods and apparatus for removing material from within a mammalian cavity using an insertable endoscopic instrument

An endoscope for removing tissue at a surgical site includes an elongated tubular body insertable within a mammalian cavity of a patient. An instrument channel extends between a first opening at a distal end and a second opening at a proximal end of the tubular body and is sized and configured to receive a surgical cutting assembly that includes an aspiration channel configured to remove material entering the endoscope via a distal end of the surgical cutting assembly. A torque generation component configured to generate torque is positioned within the distal end and configured to provide the generated torque to a coupling component. The coupling component is positioned at the distal end of the elongated tubular member and configured to actuate a cutting component of the surgical cutting assembly responsive to actuation of the torque generation component.

Wound debridement by irrigation with ultrasonically activated microbubbles

A treatment system for debriding a treatment area of a tissue site and applying negative pressure is disclosed. In some embodiments, the treatment system may include an ultrasonic bubble generator fluidly coupled to a negative-pressure source, fluid source, and a dressing. Fluid may be drawn from the fluid source to the ultrasonic bubble generator, whereby micro-bubbles and ultrasonic waves may be generated in the fluid before the fluid is instilled to the dressing.

In an energy treatment system, a processor temporally detects an electrical property value of an ultrasonic transducer, holds a temporary peak value of the electrical property value, detects an impedance value between the probe electrode and the jaw electrode, and compares the electrical property value and the temporary peak value to determine whether a predetermined condition is satisfied, and whether the impedance value exceeds a predetermined threshold. In response to determining that the electric property value satisfies the predetermined condition and the impedance value is larger than the predetermined threshold, the processor performs at least one of: (i) stopping and (ii) decreasing output from the first power supply, and notifying the determination result.
