Surfboard and method of manufacture
A surfboard includes a core covered with a laminate and having curved perforations in the deck area and the tail area of the surfboard, in order to prevent air blisters from forming between the core and laminate. The curved perforations are deformable under pressure to minimize the opening of the perforations to inhibit liquid from entering and maximizing under zero pressure to allow the maximum amount of trapped liquid and gasses from escaping. The core is formed from an extruded closed-cell polystyrene foam block that has been shaped by restraining it against a shaped form using shaped restraining tools and straps, and heating it; and by cutting using a hot wire. The core is laminated with FIBERGLAS and epoxy resin, and the perforations are formed using a perforating tool that has a planar or curved working surface and one or more heated needles extending perpendicularly from the working surface.
Watercraft device with hydrofoil and electric propeller system
A method and system for providing a watercraft device are disclosed. The watercraft device comprises a board, a throttle coupled to a top surface of the board, a hydrofoil coupled to a bottom surface of the board, and an electric propeller system coupled to the hydrofoil. The electric propeller system powers the watercraft device using information generated from the throttle. A center of buoyancy in a non-foiling mode of the watercraft device and a center of lift in a foiling mode of the watercraft device are aligned.
SURFBOARD LAYUP SYSTEM AND METHOD
A surfboard includes a first layer and a second layer. The first layer is defined by epoxy impregnated fiber reinforcement fabric configured to cover a rocker and rails and wherein the first layer extends onto a deck at a middle portion of the surfboard and tapers toward a tip and tail so that the first layer does not extend onto the deck at the tip and the tail. The second layer is defined by epoxy impregnated fiber reinforcement fabric configured to cover the deck and wherein the second layer extends to cover the rails at the middle portion of the surfboard and tapers toward the tip and tail so that the second layer covers less than half of the rails at the tip and the tail.

Paper-based watercraft board
A paper-based watercraft board (e.g., a surfboard) and a method of making a paper-based watercraft template (i.e., a blank or core) and watercraft board are described. The surfboard template composes paper-based materials to produce sustainable and recyclable alternative to traditional foam core surfboards.
Method and system for surfboard construction
The present invention includes a surfboard comprising a laminated frame extending along the side rails of the surfboard, the laminated frame comprising three or more layers of laminates, and wherein the laminated frame has been formed to the shape of the rocker of the surfboard. In various exemplary embodiments, the laminated frame may have one or more lateral members extending between opposing sides of the laminated frame, wherein such lateral members may be circular in cross-section, and may include one or more supports connecting the lateral members to the top surface of the surfboard. In various exemplary embodiments, two or more layers of laminates may form an internal structure extending laterally across the laminated frame from one side to the other.
Foamless surfboard
A board including a plurality of elongate members and first and second non-permeable first fiber reinforced material layers. Each of the plurality of elongate members are cooperatively positioned to form a perimeter of a polygon. The non-permeable first fiber reinforced material layer is secured to a top surface of the perimeter of the polygon. The non-permeable second fiber reinforced material layer is secured to a bottom surface opposing the top surface of the perimeter of the polygon. A void is defined within the perimeter of the polygon between the first fiber reinforced material layer and the second fiber reinforced material layer.
FOAM PRODUCT
A foam product includes a foam core, a soft skin covering the foam core, and a base structure on which the foam core is disposed. The foam core of expanded beads has an outer surface on which some outermost beads of the expanded beads are exposed and bulging outward with different heights to form a bubbly texture. The foam skin has an inner surface attached to the outer surface of the foam core, and has at its inner surface a plurality of concave cavities each matedly surrounding a respective one of the bulging, outermost beads on the outer surface of the foam core.
An Improved Foam Blank
This invention relates in general to an improved foam blank for a surfcraft and in particular, to an improved reinforced in foam blank and a method of manufacturing the same. The foam blank has a top blank face, an opposed bottom blank face, a pair of shaped rails extending between the opposed top and bottom blank faces at blank face edges, an enclosed core space and a midline axis extending between a nose region and a tail region and which divides the foam blank into two substantially equal regions. At least one longitudinally extending slotted aperture is formed in any one or more of the top, the bottom or the rails, such that the slotted aperture extends into the enclosed core space. At least one flexible spine is bonded to be fixed within the at least one longitudinally extending slotted aperture.
