A water sports device is provided in which a propulsion device has at least one sensor arrangement which is usable for position determination. A control unit of the water sports device is designed for generating control signals on the basis of signals from the sensor arrangement for the purpose of geofencing and/or homing. One or more controllable elements of the water sports device are activated by means of the control signals. Such elements may include a motor of the propulsion device, movable means for generating an alignment of a water jet (e.g. a wing, motor, rudder blade, a fin and/or nozzle), and/or retractable and extendable elements (a centerboard, a holding and/or hydrofoil device) which influence the floating properties of the water sports device.

A wing, buoyant in water has an upper wing surface comprising a deck upon which a rider stands, and, the wing is in water. A foot constraint proximate the wing leading edge and fixedly attaching the wing projects outwardly from the deck to release-ably receive the rider's forward foot. With the rider standing with both feet upon the deck, and the rider's forward foot ensconced within the foot constraint, and with the rider's aft foot proximate a trailing edge of the wing, the rider bodily heaves and pitches the wing to obtain a chordwise forward velocity thru the water. The forward foot constraint enables the rider to upheave the wing. A second foot constraint may attach the deck proximate the wing trailing edge. Another foot constraining system is comprised as a frictional device broadly applying the deck, and, may be used in addition to or in lieu of other constraints.

A holding apparatus is provided by way of which a hydrofoil surface apparatus can be retracted and extended and/or folded, out of a rest and/or starting position into its operating position and/or out of the operating position into the rest and/or starting position. Such actuation can take place manually by way of a person operating the water sports device, with the advantage of simpler transportability of the water sports device. The water sports device can already be placed in water close to the bank or beach, and can be guided or moved from there in the direction of deeper water. As soon as sufficiently deep water is reached, the hydrofoil surface apparatus can be transferred via the holding apparatus into the operating position.

Underwater Motor Module For A Water Sports Device

An underwater motor module for a water sports device is provided, which forms at least one flow channel each having at least one inlet opening and an outlet opening. The underwater motor module has a motor which is in the form of an internal rotor motor and comprises a hollow rotor, which concomitantly forms the flow channel by way of its inner side. On the outer side of the motor directed away from the flow channel is mounted outside the flow channel, and which bears blades. The motor also comprises an external stator arranged in a housing.

Composite masts and mast-fuselage connection assemblies for hydrofoil sports boards
11613331 · 2023-03-28 · ·

This disclosure extends to systems, apparatus, and methods for sports board hydrofoil masts and mast-to-fuselage connection assemblies for hydrofoil sports boards. In one exemplary system, a hydrofoil mast formed as an elongated member may include a securing structure disposed in a lower region and a fuselage may include a recess into which the mast is inserted. A securing assembly may be disposed in the fuselage for actuation to secure the mast to the fuselage by interacting with the securing structure on the mast. The securing assembly may include a cam member or locking member and an actuating member. Unique hydrofoil masts constructed from composite materials having reinforcing metal members are disclosed and may be useful in the connection assemblies.

Hydrojet propulsion system

A personal watercraft is disclosed including a flotation portion, a strut extending from the flotation portion, and a motor pod is disposed along the strut with an electric motor operably coupled to a driveshaft. A hydrojet unit is removably attached to the motor pod and includes an inlet portion removably attached to the motor pod and a substantially cylindrical housing. The inlet portion includes a substantially conical motor interface with a shaft through-hole for receiving the driveshaft therein, one or more fins extending outwardly from the conical motor interface, and at least one ring encircling the conical motor interface and connecting to each of the one or more fins for inhibiting objects from passing through the inlet region. The housing defines a fluid flow path to an outlet portion. The hydrojet unit includes an impeller coupled to the driveshaft and a stator disposed within the housing.
