DEVICE FOR REDUCTION OR PREVENTION OF PRETERM LABOR
20230060850 · 2023-03-02 ·

A medical device for supporting a patient's cervix, such as in the event of an insufficient cervix or uterine prolapse. The device includes a main body configured for placement in a vagina, a proximal opening at an upper portion of the body, and a distal opening at a lower portion of the body. A portion of the body engages and anchors the device along the vaginal wall proximate the cervical opening. An expandable cuff at the proximal opening is expandable to circumscribe the exterior of the cervix. The cuff is expandable inward toward the cervix, or downward away from the uterus, or both inward and downward. The cuff may include multiple features, such as a recessed portion and an enlargeable portion arranged adjacent one another, in which the recessed portion may permit blood flow to lower cervical tissue.

COLPOTOMY CUP ASSEMBLY

A medical device for performing a hysterectomy is provided. The medical device has a tissue incision assembly that includes a first cup nested within a second cup. The tissue incision assembly also includes a spacer assembly between the first cup and the second cup in order to maintain a spacing between the first and second cups. The tissue incision assembly also has a cutting implement that has a portion extending between, and movable with respect to, the first and second cups. The cutting implement can provide a circular cut guided via the spacing between the first and second cups.

A tissue resecting instrument includes a housing, a shaft rotatable relative to the housing and defining a proximal end portion disposed within the housing and a distal end portion distally-spaced from the housing, a cutting member operably associated with the distal end portion of the shaft, a turbine disposed within the housing and operably associated with the proximal end portion of the shaft, and a fluid outflow tube operably associated with the housing. The fluid outflow tube is adapted to connect to a suction source to enable the suctioning of fluid and resected tissue proximally through a lumen of the shaft, an interior of the housing, and into the fluid outflow tube. The turbine is configured such that proximal fluid flow across the plurality of fins of the turbine urges the turbine to rotate, thereby rotating the shaft relative to the housing to enable tissue resection with the cutting member.
