A surgical instrument is disclosed comprising an actuator and circuitry mounted on and/or embedded in the actuator.

SURGICAL INSTRUMENT COMPRISING A CONTROL SYSTEM THAT USES INPUT FROM A STRAIN GAGE CIRCUIT

A surgical instrument is disclosed comprising a control system and a strain gage circuit. The operation of the control system is modifiable by an input from the strain gage circuit.

DISPLAY OF ALIGNMENT OF STAPLE CARTRIDGE TO PRIOR LINEAR STAPLE LINE

A surgical hub is disclosed. The surgical hub includes a processor and a memory coupled to the processor. The memory stores instructions executable by the processor to receive image data from an image sensor, generate a first image based on the image data, display the first image on a surgical hub display coupled to the processor, receive a signal from a non-contact sensor, the signal indicative of a position of a surgical device, generate a second image based on the signal indicative of the position of the surgical device, and display the second image on the surgical hub display coupled to the processor.

SURGICAL INSTRUMENT WITH A SENSING ARRAY

A surgical instrument is disclosed. The surgical instrument includes a shaft, a sensing array and a fluid detection circuit. The sensing array is positioned within the shaft. The fluid detection circuit is electrically coupled to the sensing array, and is configured to determine when a fluid originating from an environment external to the shaft is present within the shaft.

Surgical forceps capable of adjusting sealing pressure based on vessel size

A surgical forceps includes a housing having one or more shafts attached thereto and an end effector assembly disposed at a distal end thereof. The end effector assembly includes first and second jaw members disposed in opposing relation relative to one another. At least one jaw member is moveable from an open position to a closed position for grasping tissue therebetween. The jaw members include at least one sensing component that determines an output of one or both of cross-sectional diameter and composition of tissue disposed between the jaw members. A processing component is configured to receive the output and determine a seal pressure for adequately sealing tissue disposed between the jaw members based upon the output. A regulating component regulates the movement of the jaw members between the first and second positions such that the determined seal pressure is applied to tissue disposed therebetween.

Catheter tip with microelectrodes

Apparatus, having an insertion tube that is configured to be inserted into a body cavity. The apparatus also includes a distal tip connected to the insertion tube, the distal tip having an external surface and a cavity formed in the external surface, the cavity being surrounded by a region of the external surface having a curvature. The apparatus further includes a microelectrode configured to fit into the cavity so that a surface of the microelectrode is contoured, located and oriented to conform with the curvature of the region.

Techniques for Controlling an Irreversible Electroporation System

An improved user interface system for an irreversible electroporation (IRE) system is provided. User interfaces are provided that dynamically display information provided by an operator or provided by the IRE system during setup, planning, and implementation stages of an IRE procedure in a more intuitive and efficient manner. As a result of being provided the user interfaces described herein, operators can plan and implement more effective IRE procedures to the benefit of a patient.

VIBRATING CATHETER FOR RADIO-FREQUENCY (RF) ABLATION

A medical instrument includes a shaft, multiple electrodes and a vibration generator. The shaft is configured for insertion into a body of a patient. The multiple electrodes are fitted at a distal end of the shaft and are configured to deliver Radio Frequency (RF) energy for ablation at multiple respective locations in tissue. The vibration generator is configured to vibrate the multiple electrodes for providing cooling to the tissue in a vicinity of the locations.

ADJUSTABLE LENGTH LAPAROSCOPIC INSTRUMENT

An adjustable length laparoscopic instrument is provided. The instrument includes a shaft with a shaft distal end and a shaft proximal end. The instrument further includes an actuation rod with an actuation rode distal end and an actuation rod proximal end. The actuation rod is receivable by the shaft such that the actuation rod can translate longitudinally relative to the shaft to actuate an end effector. The instrument further includes a handle configured to hold the shaft and the actuation rod. The handle is configured to cause the actuation rod to translate longitudinally relative to the shaft to actuate the end effector. The instrument further includes a length adjustment mechanism configured to adjust a shaft length. The shaft length is defined between the handle and the shaft distal end.

A surgical instrument includes a first shaft, a second shaft, and a hinge. The first shaft includes a proximal handle and a distal jaw member. The second shaft includes a first segment that has a proximal handle and a second segment that has a distal jaw member. One of the first and second shafts is pivotal relative to the other to pivot the jaw members between an open configuration where the jaw members are spaced relative to one another and an activatable configuration where the jaw members are closer to one another and suitable for applying electrosurgical energy to tissue disposed therebetween. The hinge couples the first and second segments to one another. The first and second segments have a straight configuration where the first and second segments align with a longitudinal axis and a pivoted configuration where the second segment is disposed at an angle relative to the longitudinal axis.
