An endoscope device includes: a light source capable of switching an optical spectrum of illumination light; an imaging device configured to acquire an image by receiving reflection light of the illumination light; an image processor configured to determine whether or not visibility deterioration has occurred within a visual field of the image acquisition section due to a fragment of a calculus crushed by being irradiated with a laser beam from a laser pulse generator; and a controller configured to control the light source based on a determination result obtained by the image processor. The controller causes the light source to emit white light as the illumination light in response to the image processor determining that the visibility deterioration has not occurred, and switches the illumination light emitted from the light source to light in a blue region in response to the image processor determining that the visibility deterioration has occurred.

ARTICULATED ENDOSCOPIC INSTRUMENT

An endoscopic instrument containing a retractable tool at its end that is articulated by engaging an actuator that moves pull wires to angularly move the tip of the instrument along a plane for conducting a procedure at a target site. The tool of instrument is linearly move from an extension position to a retracted position by another actuator. The instrument provide rotational control of the tool and instrument tip portion with a rotational actuator for rotating housings that carry both pull wires and a conducting wire connected to the tool.

Extendable Ureteroscope Sheath

A sheath assembly for use with an endoscope and an endoscope that includes the sheath assembly. The sheath assembly can include an elongate tubular sheath configured to thread onto a shaft of the endoscope. The sheath can include a pliable segment at a distal end of the sheath, and a tensile filament extends along a circumference of the pliable segment. The tensile filament can form a cinching loop at a distal end of the pliable segment. The sheath can be displaceable along the endoscope between a retracted position and an extended position. The pliable segment can extend distally beyond a distal end of the endoscope to form a chamber, and proximal displacement of the tensile filament tightens the cinching loop to convert the chamber from an open configuration to a closed configuration.

OPTICAL ANALYZER ASSEMBLY WITH SAFETY SHUTDOWN SYSTEM FOR INTRAVASCULAR LITHOTRIPSY DEVICE

A catheter system for treating a treatment site within or adjacent to a vessel wall or a heart valve, includes a light source, a balloon, a light guide and an optical analyzer assembly. The light source generates first light energy. The balloon is positionable substantially adjacent to the treatment site. The balloon has a balloon wall that defines a balloon interior that receives a balloon fluid. The light guide receives the first light energy and guides the first light energy in a first direction from a guide proximal end toward a guide distal end positioned within the balloon interior. The optical analyzer assembly optically analyzes a second light energy from the light guide that moves in a second direction that is opposite the first direction. The optical analyzer assembly includes a safety shutdown system to inhibit the first light energy from being received by the guide proximal end of the light guide.

Local Control Robotic Surgical Devices and Related Methods

The various robotic medical devices include robotic devices that are disposed within a body cavity and positioned using a support component disposed through an orifice or opening in the body cavity. Additional embodiments relate to devices having arms coupled to a device body wherein the device has a minimal profile such that the device can be easily inserted through smaller incisions in comparison to other devices without such a small profile. Further embodiments relate to methods of operating the above devices.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ACTIVATING TRANSDUCERS

Transducer-based systems and methods may be configured to display a graphical representation of a transducer-based device, the graphical representation including graphical elements corresponding to transducers of the transducer-based device, and also including between graphical elements respectively associated with a set of the transducers and respectively associated with a region of space between the transducers of the transducer-based device. Selection of graphical elements and/or between graphical elements can cause activation of the set of transducers associated with the selected elements. Transducer activation characteristics, such as initiation time, activation duration, activation sequence, and energy delivery characteristics, can vary based on numerous factors. Visual characteristics of graphical elements and between graphical elements can change based on an activation-status of the corresponding transducers. Activation requests for a set of transducers can be denied if it is determined that a transducer in the set of transducers is unacceptable for activation.
