Solid state device for reducing target strength
A device for deflecting acoustic waves for an object in a liquid environment includes an electrical power source located in the object. A heating grid is positioned about the object in the liquid environment, and a cooling grid is also positioned about the object in the liquid environment such that the heating grid is located between the object and the cooling grid. A least one Peltier device is joined to the electrical power source and the cooling grid for providing cooling. Resistance heating or the Peltier device can be joined to the heating grid for providing heating.
High speed surface craft and submersible vehicle
A submersible vessel comprising: an elongated hull; at least one propeller mounted on a forward end of said hull and adapted to move said hull through water; said at least one propeller being of a size and configuration such that when it is rotated at an appropriate speed, it generates supercavitated water flowing from said at least one propeller and thence along an outer surface of said hull so as to diminish friction on the outer surface of said hull and facilitate high underwater speeds.

MULTI-MODAL AIR PURIFICATION SYSTEM WITH FLEXIBLE MANIFOLD
The present invention relates to a system comprising one or more air purification circuits, a method of using the system for removing CO.sub.2 from air, a method of retrofitting the system into a submarine, and a submarine comprising the system. In a specific aspect, a system comprising one or more air purification circuits, the system comprising: a common pollutant outlet, a common clean air outlet; and a common foul air inlet; wherein each circuit comprises an absorption/desorption tank comprising a solid or porous absorption media; wherein each circuit comprises one or more valves which allow fluid communication between the absorption/desorption tank and each one of the common foul air inlet, the common pollutant outlet, and the common clean air outlet to be either opened or closed; and wherein one or more circuit comprises an intermittent air line which is selectively configurable to either be closed or to redirect the fluid communication from the absorption/desorption tank, to instead recirculate into the absorption/desorption tank and/or into another absorption/desorption tank within the system.

MULTI-MODAL AIR PURIFICATION SYSTEM WITH DIFFERENT ABSORBERS FOR DIFFERENT LOADING REQUIREMENTS
The present invention relates to a system comprising a plurality of air purification circuits, a method of using the system for removing CO.sub.2 from air, a method of retrofitting the system into a submarine, and a submarine comprising the system. In a specific aspect, a system comprising a plurality of air purification circuits, the system comprising: a common pollutant outlet, a common clean air outlet; and a common foul air inlet; wherein each circuit comprises an absorption/desorption tank comprising a solid or porous absorption media, and wherein at least two of the air purification circuits comprise differing chemical species of solid or porous absorption media; wherein each circuit comprises one or more valves which allow fluid communication between the absorption/desorption tank and each one of the common foul air inlet, the common pollutant outlet, and the common clean air outlet to be either opened or closed; and wherein one or more circuit comprises an intermittent air line which is selectively configurable to either be closed or to redirect the fluid communication from the absorption/desorption tank, to instead recirculate into the absorption/desorption tank and/or into another absorption/desorption tank within the system.
