Insertion support system and insertion support method
An insertion support system includes a state acquisition apparatus configured to acquire first information. The first information includes at least one of: a plurality of pieces of position information related to a plurality of positions of an insertion section to be inserted into an insertion target body; and a plurality of pieces of direction vector information in a longitudinal axis direction of the insertion section. The insertion support system also includes a support information calculator configured to calculate second information related to a rotation quantity of the insertion section based on the first information, and an output section configured to output the second information.
Reverse loading surgical clip applier
An end effector for a surgical clip applier includes a body having a proximal end and a distal end, a head arranged at the distal end, and first and second jaw members mounted to the head. A linear actuator is arranged within the head and is operable to collapse and open the first and second jaw members.
Strain wave gearing with input to output braking
A braking assembly for a strain wave gearing of a surgical robotic manipulator, the braking assembly including a first braking member fixedly coupled to an input portion of a strain wave gearing of a surgical robotic manipulator; and a second braking member fixedly coupled to an output portion of the strain wave gearing, and wherein during a braking operation the first braking member contacts the second braking member to mechanically brake the input portion to the output portion.
Drop detection of ungrounded master controller for a surgical robot
Disclosed herein are methods to detect a free-falling or other non-surgical motions of the user interface device (UID) of a surgical robotic system so that the surgical robotic system may pause the robotic arm controlled by the UID to prevent the robotic arm from mimicking the unintentional movement of the UID. Contact sensors embedded in the UID may be used to detect conditions indicating that a user does not possess full control of the UID. After determining that the user does not have full control of the UID, the UID may detect if the UID is experiencing non-surgical motions using motion sensors such as inertial sensors. By conditioning analysis of the data from the motion sensors by the initial determination that the UID is not being held based on the contact sensors, the method increases the robustness of the detection of non-surgical motions and reduces the probability of false positives.
Articulatable surgical instrument
A surgical instrument that includes a surgical end effector that is articulatable relative to a proximal shaft segment of the surgical instrument. The surgical end effector is attached to the proximal shaft segment by an articulation joint that comprises a plurality of movably interconnected links that interface with a centrally disposed drive member to apply articulation motions thereto and which serve to provide improved lateral stability to the articulation joint.
Medical device for manipulating surgical tools
A medical device has been disclosed. The medical device includes a parallel manipulator. The parallel manipulator having an end platform coupled to a surgical tool and a base platform coupled to machine module. The machine module is coupled to the surgical tool through a transmission shaft disposed between the end platform and the base platform.
PRELOADED SURGICAL INSTRUMENT INTERFACE
A surgical system includes a surgical instrument that is sensitive to backlash that would adversely affect the transmission of controlled torque and position to the surgical instrument. The surgical instrument is coupled to motors in a surgical instrument manipulator assembly via a mechanical interface. The combination of the mechanical interface and surgical instrument manipulator assembly have low backlash, e.g., less than 0.7 degrees. The backlash is controlled in the surgical instrument manipulator assembly. From the drive output disk in the surgical instrument manipulator assembly to the driven disk of the surgical instrument, the mechanical interface has zero backlash for torque levels used in surgical procedures.
Surgical instrument
A tool comprises a distal portion and a proximal portion spaced apart by a shaft along a longitudinal axis. The distal portion includes a distal link and the proximal portion including a proximal link. The distal link and proximal link form a pair of links. The tool also comprises a set of tension load bearing members connecting the proximal link and the distal link and terminating at the links of the pair to transfer movement therebetween. The tool also comprises an articulation lock positioned between the distal portion and the proximal portion and configured to allow through passage of the set of tension load bearing members. The articulation lock is adjustable between an unlocked configuration in which the proximal and distal links are moveable and a locked configuration in which an effective length of the shaft is increased, creating a force to impede movement of the proximal and distal links.
Variable-length guide apparatus for delivery of a flexible instrument and methods of use
An apparatus for guiding an elongated flexible instrument, includes a first plurality of linkages forming a first side of a channel of a variable-length support assembly, a second plurality of linkages forming a second side of the channel, opposite the first side, a third plurality of linkages disposed between the first and second plurality of linkages and forming a third side of the channel, and a fourth plurality of linkages disposed between the first and second plurality of linkages and forming a fourth side of the channel, opposite the third side. Each of the first, second, third, and fourth pluralities of linkages are separable from each other to transition the variable-length support assembly from an elongated configuration to a compact configuration.
MEDICAL ARM DEVICE
A medical arm device to support a medical instrument has a tip part with a structure in which three rotation axes are disposed in order of a rotation axis around a longitudinal axis of the medical instrument, a yaw axis that rotates the medical instrument left and right with respect to a tip of a link, and a pitch axis that rotates the medical instrument up and down with respect to the tip of the link, and a first wire for rotation transmission of the yaw axis, a second wire for rotation transmission of the roll axis, a first rerouting pulley that reroutes the first wire between the pitch axis and the yaw axis, a second rerouting pulley that reroutes the second wire between the pitch axis and the yaw axis, and a third rerouting pulley that reroutes the second wire between the yaw axis and the roll axis.
