PEROXIDE VULCANIZATION OF RUBBER LATEXES
A peroxide formulation includes at least one peroxide and at least one compound having a secondary amine group selected from amino acids, such as arginine, folic acid, and polyethyleneamines. The peroxide formulation is capable of curing an aqueous elastomer such as a latex in the full or partial presence of oxygen. Methods of using the peroxide formulation include dip-molding latex elastomer compositions.
Ergonomic Tubing Attachment for Medical Apparatus
An ergonomic attachment system for connecting an irrigation tube or an aspiration tube to a surgical handpiece that reduces surgeon wrist fatigue due to tubing twist. The tube is connected to the handpiece through a swivel joint which allows the tube to rotate circumferentially with respect to the handpiece and self-adjust to a neutral position to relieve the twist.
WENZEL-CASSIE GLOVE
A glove with an enhanced gripping textured surface is disclosed herein. In preferred embodiments, the glove contains a palm region adapted to cover the palm of a person's hand, a thumb region extending outwardly from the palm region, an index finger region disposed adjacent the thumb region, a middle finger region adjacent the index finger region, a ring finger region adjacent the middle finger region, and a little finger region adjacent the ring finger region with each region containing a textured surface. In preferred embodiments, the textured surface is formed by a plurality of dimensionally hierarchical structures superimposed in layers. The textured surface of the invention, when in contact with wet tissue, repels water at a first texture layer and traps tissue at a second texture layer, such that when in tissue contact, especially exudative tissue, tissue fixatively localizes to the glove surface.
WENZEL-CASSIE GLOVE
A glove with an enhanced gripping textured surface is disclosed herein. OPTHALMIC MICROSURGICAL INSTRUMENT
In some embodiments, a microsurgical instrument includes a trocar having a rigid, hollow shaft formed with a lumen extending from a proximal end to a distal end of the shaft. The distal end of the shaft may be shaped for tissue penetration. The instrument may further include a composite microcannula slidably engaged with the trocar in the lumen. The microcannula includes a light guide and a flexible hollow tube having an outer diameter less than an inner diameter of the lumen in the trocar. Other embodiments include placing the microcannula in the lumen of the trocar, illuminating the end of the trocar by illuminating the end of the microcannula, advancing the trocar from a selected entry point on an eye into a selected structure in the eye, and extending the illuminated end of the microcannula from the trocar into the selected structure.
NANOCOMPOSITE ELASTOMERS
A composite material comprising an elastomer and nanocellulose. The nanocellulose may comprise a nanocellulose material derived from plants having C4 leaf anatomy, or a nanocellulose material derived from a plant material having a lesser amount of lignin than hemi-cellulose, or a nanocellulose having a hemicellulose content of from 25% to 55% by weight of the nanocellulose material, or a nanocellulose comprising nanofibrils having a diameter of up to 5 nm, or a nanocellulose comprising nanocellulose material of plant origin comprising nanocellulose particles or fibres having an aspect ratio of at least 250, or the composite material having a stiffness of not greater than 2.5 times the stiffness of the elastomer without the nanocellulose material being present, or the nanocellulose particles or fibres being derived from a plant material having a hemicellulose content of 30% or higher (w/w). The nanocellulose may be derived from arid Spinifex.
NANOCOMPOSITE ELASTOMERS
A composite material comprising an elastomer and nanocellulose. The nanocellulose may comprise a nanocellulose material derived from plants having C4 leaf anatomy, or a nanocellulose material derived from a plant material having a lesser amount of lignin than hemi-cellulose, or a nanocellulose having a hemicellulose content of from 25% to 55% by weight of the nanocellulose material, or a nanocellulose comprising nanofibrils having a diameter of up to 5 nm, or a nanocellulose comprising nanocellulose material of plant origin comprising nanocellulose particles or fibres having an aspect ratio of at least 250, or the composite material having a stiffness of not greater than 2.5 times the stiffness of the elastomer without the nanocellulose material being present, or the nanocellulose particles or fibres being derived from a plant material having a hemicellulose content of 30% or higher (w/w). The nanocellulose may be derived from arid Spinifex.
Low friction glove for easy double gloving
An elastomeric article includes a first surface and a second surface which is treated with a friction treatment. The elastomeric article can be a glove in which the first surface is an inner donning surface and the second surface is an outer grip surface. The friction treatment reduces friction on the grip surface of the gloves in order to make it easier to don a second glove on top of the grip surface of the gloves of the present invention. The gloves of the present invention may be used as a first pair of gloves in a double-gloving configuration to conform with safety protocols.

Padded Medical Procedure Glove and Finger Cot
A glove or finger cot may be formed of a polymer and include one or more pads over the back side of one or more distal finger joints. The glove or cot may optionally be lubricated, sterile, reversible and/or disposable, and may incorporate indicia indicating the location of the pads. The pads may provide protection from, e.g., repetitive stresses in tapping vials or syringes in medical examination, surgery, laboratory procedures, or other clinical contexts.
