AERIAL VEHICLE AIRFRAME DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING

An airframe design may include a bonded frame or assembly, and one or more components that may be removably attached to the bonded frame. The bonded frame may include struts, central bulkheads, a tail section, a plurality of wing sections, and motor mounts that are adhered together using adhesive. The one or more attachable components may include a forward fuselage, motors, propellers, motor pod fairings, stabilizer fins, and landing gear that are attached using fasteners. The bonded frame may reduce the number of parts of the airframe design and may also reduce complexity, cost, and weight, while also increasing stiffness and strength. Further, the various attachable components may facilitate fabrication, assembly, and maintenance of an aerial vehicle having the airframe design.

CENTRAL AREA ARRANGEMENT FOR CONTINUOUS HORIZONTAL TAIL PLANE TORSION BOX

An aircraft horizontal tail plane (HTP) of the continuous type, wherein the inner-most ribs of the right-hand side and left-hand side torsion boxes are arranged to have one end joined right at the joint zone where both rear spars meet at axis of symmetry of the HTP. In this way, the loads at this central region of the HTP are concentrated at the joint zone where the inner-most ribs and the rear spars converge. The HTP can be manufactured with a reduced number of components.

AIR SCOOP SOLAR SHIELD FOR UAV
20230174232 · 2023-06-08 ·

An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) includes a fuselage, electronics disposed with the fuselage, a heat sink, and a solar shield. The heat sink is thermally connected to the electronics and includes a cooling plate disposed on or extends through an exterior surface of the fuselage. The cooling plate is exposed to an external environment of the UAV to conduct heat from the electronics to the external environment via convection. The solar shield extends over the cooling plate and defines an air scoop within which the cooling plate is disposed. The air scoop directs airflow from the external environment across the cooling plate. The solar shield shades the cooling plate from solar radiation to prevent or reduce solar heating of the cooling plate.

An aerofoil shaped body includes a plurality of longitudinal spars, an upper aerofoil cover, and a lower aerofoil cover. The spars and the covers are made of composite laminate material. One of the spars is integrally formed with one of the covers to form a spar-cover such that the composite laminate material of the spar extends continuously into the cover through a fold region created between the spar and the cover. The fold region has a fold axis extending substantially in the longitudinal direction, and the fold axis projected onto two orthogonal planes has curvature in both those planes.

ROTARY WING AIRCRAFT WITH AN INTERFACE FRAME JOINING THE FUSELAGE TAIL BOOM AND THE TAIL CONE

A rotary wing aircraft comprising a fuselage tail boom, a tail cone and an interface frame, the interface frame in turn having a connecting structure directly attached to the tail cone by means of a tail cone mechanical connection and a connecting sleeve fitting axially the fuselage tail boom, the connecting sleeve and the fuselage tail boom being directly attached by means of a one boom mechanical connection; the interface frame thereby joining the fuselage tail boom and the tail cone.

An aircraft joint between overlapping first and second components includes a fastener having a head and a shank, and a fastener retainer fixedly attached to the second component at the overlap region. The fastener retainer has a recess and a through hole. The fastener head is situated in the recess and between the fastener retainer and the second component. The fastener shank extends through the hole in the fastener retainer and into the first component to fasten the first component to the second component. The joint may be between an aircraft wing cover and a wing panel.
