PROTECTIVE DEVICE FOR USE IN SURGERY APPLICATIONS
Disclosed is a protective device comprising a seal portion adapted to be fitted over an orifice of patient, the seal portion having a perimeter adapted to be substantially sealed onto the patient. The protective device has one or more flexible sleeves which provides a substantially air-tight surround defining a passage in communication with said orifice. The or each flexible sleeve, at an end thereof which is distal from said seal portion, has an opening adapted to accept entry of a surgical instrument or scope into said passage. There is sealing member provided at said opening which is adapted to provide a seal around said surgical instrument or scope so that, in use, said surgical instrument or scope and said sealing member provide an airtight seal to substantially prevent leakage of particles from the passage.
Medical table and surgical drape for use in surgical procedures
A surgical drape is disclosed herein that is to be used for medical procedures in order to ensure sterile portions are not contaminated. The surgical drape can be configured to be placed around a surgical site where an operative procedure is to be conducted. The surgical drape includes a u-shaped opening, at least one sleeve, and at least one flap on its proximal end. The at least one sleeve and the at least one flap extend outwardly from a top surface of the drape. The at least one flap includes adhesive components on one side that allow the at least one flap to be folded back on to itself to provide additional protective harder from contamination.

System for limiting exposure of a selected area from contaminated and adverse environments
An access control apparatus having a protective covering configure to cover at least one of a subject or an object inside said protective covering is provided, where an opening is configured to provide access to the at least one of a subject or an object and a covering element configured to selectively cover said opening. A receiving element is provided on the protective covering and an activating device with an activating element is provided external to the protective covering. A motor is coupled to the covering element, wherein said motor selectively moves the covering element to at least partially unblock the opening based on a wireless activation signal and a distance between the activating element and the receiving element being within a predefined distance and to completely block the opening based on the wireless activation signal and the distance between the activating element and the receiving element being greater than the predefined distance, effectively limiting the exchange of contaminated or adverse environments between an internal area of the protective covering and an area outside the protective covering. The covering element can be an integral covering or an iris diaphragm arrangement.
Safety-equipped connection systems and methods thereof for establishing electrical connections
Connection systems and methods thereof facilitate establishing electrical connections through a barrier such as a drape without compromising a sterile field established by the barrier. A connection system can include two connectors. A first connector can include a first-connector housing defining a cavity, a slideable end piece coupled to a distal-end portion of the first-connector housing, and at least a first piercing element connected to a first electrical lead. The first piercing element can be configured to enter the cavity and pierce a barrier disposed in the cavity when the slideable end piece is advanced toward a proximal-end portion of the first-connector housing. A second connector can include at least a first receptacle within a second-connector housing connected to a second electrical lead. The first receptacle can be configured to form at least a first electrical connection with the first piercing element after the first piercing element pierces the barrier.

RELOCATION MODULE AND METHODS FOR SURGICAL EQUIPMENT
An anesthetic equipment storage and waste air management module configured to housing electronic and electromechanical surgical equipment including a system to measure and record administration of one or more IV medications or fluids for IV administration. The module can include a housing having a lower section and a tower-like upper section, wherein the lower section is configured to house unrelated waste heat-producing electronic and electromechanical surgical equipment. The module can also include a cowling that substantially confines waste heat generated by the unrelated waste heat-producing electronic and electromechanical surgical equipment, and can include a system for measuring and recording the administration of the one or more IV medications and fluids.
Apparatus and method for helping to protect a patient#s hair
An apparatus for helping to protect a patient's hair is provided. The apparatus includes a sheet configured to cover a patient's hair during an operation. A sealing member is provided on or joined to a leading end of the sheet. The sealing member is configured to be applied to a patient's skin adjacent to an operating field to create a seal between the operating field and the patient's hair. At least one anchoring member is joined to the sheet adjacent to the leading end of the sheet. The at least one anchoring member is configured to be attached to the patient's hair adjacent to the operating field to anchor the apparatus to the patient.
