Medical device and method for conducting a surgery through a body opening
A medical device and method for facilitating a surgery through a body opening is disclosed. The medical device includes a flexible member configured to be placed within the body opening so as to cover a portion of the body opening. The flexible member includes a distal end portion with a closed end, a proximal end portion with an open end and an elongate portion joining the proximal end portion and the distal end portion. The proximal end portion is configured to extend out of the patient's body opening to cover an area around and outside the patient's body opening.
SURGICAL C-SECTION DRAPE WITH TUNNEL
Disclosed is a surgical drape configured to selectively allow or block a patient's view of a surgical field, as is desired particularly in Caesarean section operations. Generally, the surgical drape includes a mainsheet and a screen connected to the mainsheet. The mainsheet is equipped with a surgical fenestration and the screen is equipped with a screen fenestration and a flexible tunnel material forming a tunnel between a surgeon-facing side of the screen and a patient-facing side of the screen. The drape is equipped with at least one flap that covers the screen fenestration during the surgical procedure. Upon birth, the infant is passed through the tunnel to greet the mother, and a flap is then closed to cover the screen fenestration.
Catheter placement assist device and method of use
A single-use, sterile, disposable catheter placement assist device to aid in the sterile placement of transurethral urinary catheters in female patients, and a method for catheter placement using the device. The catheter placement assist device includes a labia separator with flared wings having a curved profile. The wings meet at a valley. The catheter placement assist device also includes a posterior shield that covers the perineal tissues including the anus to prevent contamination of the sterile catheter with bacteria and may further include a spout that may be shallowly inserted into the vagina to position the catheter device to optimize labial separation, retraction of the posterior vaginal wall, perineal shielding, and visualization of the urethral meatus. The additional features of a light, a handle, a catheter tip holder, a swab storage location, and a stackable configuration may further be included with the catheter placement assist device.
Surgical drape for fluid collection
The present invention is directed to a surgical drape that provides for effective and fluid collection while reducing the reducing the risk of staff or patient contact with fluid expelled from a patient during a medical procedure.
Female condom with adhering shield and method of manufacture
The present invention is a female condom with an extended shield that can cover and seal the external genitalia to prevent sperm and disease transmissions during coitus. The construction of the present invention involves sealing of the double layered membranous films in an omega or similar shape to create a tubular and a shield portions, followed by applications of adhesive and releasing sheets onto the exterior of both shields before it is cut into the final product. The tubular portion will form the protective barrier for vagina (condom) while the shield portion, which adheres to the external genitalia, will prevent the seepage of body fluid. The tubular portion may be inverted to serve as a male condom. Double tubular portions are constructed for unconventional sexual activities. Transverse and longitudinal folds are created to enlarge the tubular portion. The female condom may be shaped, textured, colored and flavored according to the users' demand.
Surgical drape with control mechanism
A disposable sterile surgical drape configured for establishing a sterile field around a surgical instrument such as a limb positioner includes a control mechanism associated with the drape in the sterile field that interfaces with, and controls, the surgical instrument. The control mechanism includes a switch and a communication interface that connects to the instrument and the location of the switch may be moved to a desired position within the sterile field.
Pocket and Drape System for Providing Sterile Fields
A pocket and drape system which provides one or more sterile fields, as well as the methodology for employing said pocket and drape system is provided. The pocket and drape includes a base drape material having an upper edge, a lower edge, a first side edge, and a second side edge to define a perimeter, where the base drape material also includes an inner surface and an outer surface. A first row of pockets and a second row of pockets are configured on the inner surface of the base drape material. In addition, a flap covers a portion of the inner surface of the base drape material, where the flap has a first surface and an opposing second surface, wherein the flap maintains at least one sterile field.
Skin-to-skin contact obstetrical surgical drape
A fenestration drape and a method for providing skin-to-skin contact of a newborn with the mother immediately after birth during a Cesarean delivery are provided. The fenestration drape includes a portal which may be opened and reclosed without compromise to the sterile barrier. The method facilitates the critical contact without interruption and with continuity of sterile field throughout the procedure.
Surgical drape for collecting discharged fluid
A surgical drape (100) is described that is aimed at providing a way to direct a maximum amount of fluid (e.g., distention fluid) discharged from the patient's uterine cavity to a collection point, such as a fluid management system, during a hysteroscopic procedure. The surgical drape may include a cover portion (105) and a collection portion (110) that is attached to the cover portion (105). The cover portion (105) may define an opening (115) that provides a surgeon with surgical access to the patient for performing a medical procedure. The collection portion (110) may include a main panel (120) that can be attached to the patient's back distally of the gluteal cleft (e.g., via an adhesive strip). The main panel (110) may include a pocket (170), via which the surgeon may insert his hands to position the main panel (110) under the patient without disturbing the sterile field.
Fluid infusion system
A fluid infusion system includes an air pump connected to an accumulator tank to produce pressurized air that is stored in the accumulator tank. The system can include one or more fluid bag chambers wherein each fluid bag chamber includes an inflatable bladder positioned inside the fluid bag chamber to apply pressure on the fluid bag supported inside the chamber. The fluid bag can be connected by a tube set to deliver fluid from the fluid bag to a surgical tool at a surgical site. The fluid can, for example, be irrigation fluid or distention fluid. The system can include a controller connected to the pump to control the pump to produce the pressurized air and an adjustable pressure regulator can be connected between the accumulator tank and the inflatable bladder to control the pressure of air delivered to the inflatable bladder and the pressure that the fluid is delivered to the surgical tool. A pressure sensor can be connected between the adjustable pressure regulator and the inflatable bladder to measure the air pressure delivered to the inflatable bladder and send the air pressure measurements to the controller. The controller can configure the system display to show the air pressure measured by the pressure sensor.
