Secondary airfoil apparatus, system, and method for improving lift and aerodynamic performance of a floatplane
The present disclosure relates to a secondary airfoil apparatus, system and method for improving lift, takeoff, landing and aerodynamic performance of a floatplane. The secondary airfoil can be integrated into the floatplane during manufacture, or retrofitted to an existing floatplane after manufacture. The secondary airfoil is itself of sufficient structural rigidity to withstand any and all forces added by the airfoil during floatplane operation. The secondary airfoil is fixedly attached between the floats of the floatplane, and are purposefully not attached to spreader bars that can exist typically between the floats. The secondary airfoil can be arranged at an optimal angle of incidence and vertical lift position relative to the primary airfoil, or wing of the aircraft, and relative to the floats center of gravity and drag for optimal maneuverability of the floatplane.
FUEL TANK STRINGER WITH FLOW PASSAGE
A fuel tank is disclosed including a lower cover and an upper cover. The lower cover or the upper cover includes a panel assembly. The panel assembly includes a panel and a stringer attached to the panel. The stringer includes a pair of portions which are spaced apart in a lengthwise direction of the stringer and connected to each other by a bridge. Each portion is connected to a respective end of the bridge, and each end of the bridge deviates away from the panel. The stringer includes reinforcement fibres which extend between the portions via the bridge. Each reinforcement fibre deviates away from the panel at each end of the bridge. The stringer includes a stringer recess between the bridge and the panel, and a flow passage in the stringer recess through which fluid can flow across the stringer.

RIB MOUNTING ASSEMBLY
A rib mounting assembly for an aircraft is disclosed including a rib post and a seal member. The rib post has a rib post foot to mount with a longitudinal spar and a rib post web upstanding from the rib post foot. The seal member has a seal body and a mounting flange. The mounting flange is mounted with the rib post foot and the seal body extends from an end of the rib post.
SPARK CONTAINMENT CAP
A method of joining a first workpiece to a second workpiece is disclosed including securing a spark containment cap to the first workpiece, the cap comprising an electrically insulating washer and a cap body defining an air cavity. Once the cap has been secured, a tail of a fastener is inserted into the air cavity through the second workpiece, the first workpiece and the washer. Upon tightening the fastener, the tail of the fastener urges the washer against the first workpiece and the first and second workpiece are thereby clamped between the washer and a head of the fastener so as to form a joint. Advantageously, it has been found that forming a joint in this manner can help to better protect the joint from the effects of electrical arcing.
Hat-stringer assemblies for an aircraft and methods of forming same
A hat-stringer assembly for an aircraft comprises a hat stringer with a first hat-stringer leg, a second hat-stringer leg, a first hat-stringer sidewall, a connecting wall, a second hat-stringer sidewall, and a ventilation opening, extending through the connecting wall. The hat stringer assembly also comprises a fitting, comprising a first channel member in contact with the first hat-stringer sidewall and the first hat-stringer leg. The fitting also comprises a second channel member in contact with the second hat-stringer sidewall and the second hat-stringer leg. The fitting further comprises a web cap, in contact with the first channel member and the second channel member. The web cap comprises a web-cap opening, which is in fluidic communication with the ventilation opening.
RELATING TO WING CONSTRUCTION
