COATED BARRIER FABRIC FOR A REUSABLE MEDICAL PRODUCT
20220205170 · 2022-06-30 ·

A coated barrier fabric for use in a reusable medical product (e.g., surgical gown, surgical drape, etc.) is provided and has two woven or knitted plies. Each of the two plies are coated on one side with a non-fluorine containing polymer and retain similar comfort and feel of uncoated woven or knitted fabrics. The coated sides of the plies face each other (i.e., inwardly) in the interior of the barrier fabric. Because of the orientation of the plies, the coated sides of the plies can come into direct contact with and move freely against each other within the interior of the barrier fabric. The coating on each of the plies is protected from exterior and environmental factors, including repeated institutional laundering/autoclave cycles, that could abrade and degrade the coating. Thus, the useful life of the reusable medical product including the barrier fabric is extended.

Method of using a surgical modular robotic assembly

A method of using a surgical modular robotic assembly including an interchangeable motor pack, a hand-held surgical instrument, and a robotic surgical instrument is disclosed. The method includes releasably attaching an interface portion of the interchangeable motor pack to the hand-held surgical instrument, causing the interchangeable motor pack to drive a first surgical tool of the hand-held surgical instrument, stopping the interchangeable motor pack from driving the first surgical tool, disconnecting the interface portion from the hand-held surgical instrument, and releasably attaching the interface portion of the interchangeable motor pack to the robotic surgical instrument.

Generally, a sterile adapter for use in robotic surgery may include a frame configured to be interposed between a tool driver and a surgical tool, a plate assembly coupled to the frame, and at least one rotatable coupler supported by the plate assembly and configured to communicate torque from an output drive of the tool driver to an input drive of the surgical tool.

Surgical drape with attachable fluid control pouch and geometric alignment feature

A surgical drape having an attachable fluid control pouch and geometric alignment feature are described. The surgical drape may be fenestrated and include a base drape panel, an absorbent intermediate panel, and a mounting panel. The mounting panel may have a fluid impervious top surface that forms a higher quality adhesive seal with the adhesive attachment areas of the fluid control pouch. The surgical drape panels may be joined together by a continuous fluid impervious seal surrounding the fenestration. The fluid control pouch attachment edge may include a geometric structure that aligns with a corresponding geometric structure of the fenestration such that the fluid control pouch can be effectively positioned regardless of its rotational orientation relative to the surgical drape.

Surgical instrument configured to determine firing path

A surgical instrument for treating the stomach tissue of a patient is disclosed. The surgical instrument comprises a handle comprising a display, a shaft extending from the handle, and an end effector extending from said shaft. The surgical system comprises a tissue treatment system configured to treat the stomach tissue along a path, an imaging system configured to capture a tissue image of the stomach tissue, and a controller configured to determine an edge of the stomach tissue, generate an image representing at least a portion of the edge of the stomach tissue, and display the image along with at least a portion of the tissue image on the display.

Surgical drape for thermal treatment basin

A drape for a piece of equipment used during a medical procedure may be formed of a flexible sheet of polymeric material. The flexible sheet can have a basin portion shape-indexed to a basin or reservoir of the piece of equipment over which the drape is intended to be draped. The flexible sheet can also have a side sheet portion connected to the basin portion. The side sheet portion can drape down the basin or reservoir of the piece of equipment over which the drape is draped. The basin portion of the flexible sheet can be collapsible. As a result, the drape can be collapsed into planar package for storage. Upon being removed from the package, the basin portion of the drape can be expanded to conform to the walls of the basin of the piece of equipment over which the drape is deployed.

Removable device covers

The present disclosure provides example device covers implementing differential adhesive systems allowing for clean removal of the cover after a prolonged dwell period. An example device cover comprises a bore section, a first drape section extending from a first end of the bore section, and a second drape section extending from a second end of the bore section. A first edge of the first drape section may extend from the first end of the bore section at approximately a 50° angle, a second edge of the first drape section may extend from the first end of the bore section at approximately a 130° angle. The first drape section and second drape section may be symmetrical with respect to each other. The device cover may further comprise one or more adhesive tabs, each comprising an intermediary body with a first acrylic adhesive layer and an opposite second rubber adhesive layer.

Compact actuation configuration and expandable instrument receiver for robotically controlled surgical instruments

A robotic system assembly comprises a robotic manipulator including an actuator assembly and a surgical instrument having a base body mountable to the actuator assembly. The base includes a first control input and a second control input, wherein the first and second control inputs are positioned on different sides of the base. The actuator assembly is moveable between open and closed positions to facilitate removal and replacement of surgical instruments. When in the closed positions, drive elements of the actuator assembly are positioned to drive the first and second control inputs of the surgical instrument to cause end effector movement or actuation.

Method of Using a Sterilization Wrap System

A method of using a sterilization wrap system including a permeable material having barrier properties and having a first surface and a second opposing surface, the exterior panel being substantially opaque or having a first level of translucence, and an interior panel including a permeable material having barrier properties and having a first surface and a second opposing surface, the interior panel having a level of translucence that is higher than the translucence of the exterior panel, the panels being joined together over at least a portion of their surfaces. Also disclosed is inspection of the sterilization wrap system for exterior panel breaches by looking for light passing through a panel facing the viewer.
