VEHICLE CONFIGURATION WITH AERODYNAMIC SHAPING TO REDUCE DRAG, AND VEHICLE AND METHOD FOR THE SAME
20230264801 · 2023-08-24 ·

There is provided a vehicle configuration to reduce drag in a fluid stream. The vehicle configuration has a vehicle body. The vehicle configuration further has at least one auxiliary body coupled to, and positioned a distance from, the vehicle body, to form a channel between the at least one auxiliary body and the vehicle body. The vehicle configuration further has one or more exterior profiles of one or more of, the vehicle body and the at least one auxiliary body. The one or more exterior profiles are positioned in proximity to the channel, and are shaped with an aerodynamic shaping, so that the one or more exterior profiles each comprises one or more concave shape portions. When a fluid flow from the fluid stream flows through the channel, the drag resulting from fluid flow interactions between the vehicle body and the at least one auxiliary body is reduced.

GAS TURBINE ENGINE MOUNTED ABOVE WING AND WITH CAMBER

A gas turbine engine and engine mount structure includes a core engine including a compressor section, a combustor section and a turbine section mounted within a core engine housing. The fan, the compressor section and the turbine section rotate about an axis of rotation. An outer nacelle surrounds the fan, and is spaced from the core engine housing to define a bypass duct. The fan delivers air into the bypass duct and into the core engine housing. The nacelle is formed with camber so as to be curved in a first plane away from the axis of rotation in a first lateral direction. An engine mount structure extends from the nacelle at an angle that is non-parallel and non-perpendicular to the first plane, and has a component in a lateral direction that is opposed to the first lateral direction. An aircraft is also disclosed.

Mounting pylon for a jet engine of an aircraft comprising a particular structure

A mounting pylon comprising a structure that comprises two C-shaped semi-structures and comprising an upper spar, a lower spar and a lateral flank, an upper panel, a lower panel, a reacting attachment point, two bars attached between the reacting attachment point and a jet engine, and a front wing attachment point attached to a wing box. The lateral flank comprises joists that are aligned between the front wing attachment point and the reacting attachment point, and where the angles between two successive joists are equal.

Wing-nacelle splice assemblies for tiltrotor aircraft

A propulsion and lift system of a tiltrotor aircraft includes a wing having an outboard end, a wing tip assembly having an inboard end, a fixed nacelle coupled to the wing tip assembly and a wing-nacelle splice assembly having inboard and outboard sides. The inboard side of the wing-nacelle splice assembly is coupled to the outboard end of the wing, and the outboard side of the wing-nacelle splice assembly is coupled to the inboard end of the wing tip assembly, thereby coupling the fixed nacelle to the wing.

Aircraft nacelle comprising a cowl with two articulated doors
11319083 · 2022-05-03 · ·

An aircraft nacelle which comprises a structure, an upstream cowl, an upper cowl arranged to the rear of the upstream cowl and having a starboard-side door and a port-side door, each being articulated between a closed position and an open position, each having a front edge, a rear edge, an inner edge and an outer edge. The nacelle comprises, for each door, an articulation and a locking system. Each door is articulated at the level of its outer edge and, in the closed position, the inner edge of one door is contiguous with the inner edge of the other door. Such a nacelle makes the technicians' work easier because the two articulated doors can be opened wide and give easy access under the cowl.
