Apparatus and method for heating an aircraft structure
11667388 · 2023-06-06 · ·

A method of providing ice protection on a surface of an aircraft using exhaust air from a laminar flow control compressor. An aircraft structure, for example a wing, includes a skin. The skin has an external surface, on an outer face of the skin. The skin has an internal surface, located opposite the external surface on an inner face of the skin. The aircraft structure includes a laminar flow control system including a compressor. The aircraft structure is so arranged that the exhaust air from the compressor is directed onto the internal surface of the skin of the aircraft structure, for example thus providing hot exhaust air which function as an ice protection system (whether by de-icing or anti-icing).

A leading edge structure for a flow control system of an aircraft is disclosed having a leading edge panel that surrounds a plenum, wherein the leading edge panel has a first side portion, a second side portion opposite the first side portion, an inner surface facing the plenum and an outer surface in contact with an ambient flow, and wherein the leading edge panel comprises a plurality of micro pores forming a fluid connection between the plenum and the ambient flow, wherein the plenum is connected to an air outlet arrangement configured for causing an underpressure in the plenum, so that air from the ambient flow is drawn through the micro pores into the plenum and from there discharged through the air outlet arrangement into the ambient flow.

Noise abatement systems for retractable leading edge wing slats of an aircraft wing assembly

Noise-abatement systems provide noise abatement to a wing assembly provided with a forward edge slat and include an elongate shield element which is unconnected but positionable adjacent to a lower trailing edge of the edge slat along a lengthwise extent thereof, and a support web having a distal end fixed to the shield element and a proximal end capable of fixation to an interior cove surface of the edge slat adjacent an upper trailing edge thereof. The support web will therefore allow movement of the shield element towards and away from the lower trailing edge of the edge slat between an operative position wherein the shield element is positioned adjacent to the lower trailing edge of the edge slat along the lengthwise extent thereof and an inoperative position wherein the edge slat is spaced from the trailing edge of the edge slat and positioned in the cove region thereof, respectively.

Cell structure and acoustic attenuation device for a nacelle of an aircraft propulsion assembly

The present disclosure relates to a cell structure for an acoustic attenuation device for a nacelle of an aircraft propulsion assembly. This cell structure includes lateral partitions forming channels that each extend between a first end and a second end and skin elements arranged so that each channel is at least partly closed at the first end thereof by at least one skin element. Each skin element is connected to a respective lateral partition and can move relative to the other lateral partitions. A continuous skin can be assembled on this cell structure so as to at least partly close the channels at the second end thereof and to thus form an acoustic attenuation device.

Technologies are described herein for a drag recovery scheme using a boundary layer bypass duct system. In some examples, boundary layer air is routed around the intake of one or more of the engines and reintroduced aft of the engine fan in the nozzle duct in a mixer-ejector scheme. Mixer-ejectors mix the boundary layer flow to increase mass flow.
