Piezoelectric ring bender servo valve assembly for aircraft flight control actuation and fuel control systems
11867204 · 2024-01-09 ·

A piezoelectric ring bender servo valve assembly reduces mechanical wear by removing mechanical components used in prior art servo valves. The assembly does not use torque motor, flapper, and feedback spring. In this manner, no moving parts are required, which reduces maintenance and costs. A pair of piezoelectric ring benders mount adjacently to a pair of nozzles. The piezoelectric ring benders independently regulate the flow of fluid through the nozzles by moving between an open position to enable flowage, and a closed position to restrict flowage. A linear position sensing device measures and provides feedback about the spool position to a valve controller. The valve controller allows the spool valve to move until valve position achieves command position and the force on the spool valve is in equilibrium with pressure difference across spool valve. An H-bridge operable to switch the polarity of a differential pressure applied across to a load.

Flow body for a vehicle and method for manufacturing a flow body

A flow body for an aircraft includes a recess in a surface of the flow body, a first structural component with a porous material and may also include a second structural component with a porous material. The recess includes a front recess region and a rear recess region. The first structural component is arranged in, or on, the front recess region and the second structural component may be arranged in, or on, the rear recess region. An aircraft having the flow body, a weapons system having the flow body and a method for manufacturing a flow body for a vehicle are also described.

Control system for an aircraft

A combustion system includes at least one plasma actuator disposed along a substrate at a plasma location, and at least one fuel injector disposed along the substrate at an injection location. The fuel injector disperses fuel toward the plasma location. The plasma from plasma actuator ignites fuel from the fuel injector proximate the plasma location.

A propulsion system coupled to a vehicle. The system includes an ejector having an outlet structure out of which propulsive fluid flows at a predetermined adjustable velocity. A control surface having a leading edge is located directly downstream of the outlet structure such that propulsive fluid from the ejector flows over the control surface.

End seal device for a high-lift device of an aircraft

An end seal device for a high-lift device on an airfoil leading edge of an airfoil includes an end seal body configured to be coupled to the airfoil and having a seal body spanwise portion and a seal end. The end seal body is configured to be in a seal extended position when the high-lift device is in a device extended position. The seal body spanwise portion is disposed adjacent to the aircraft body or the airfoil leading edge and the seal end is disposed adjacent to a device end of the high-lift device when the end seal body is in the seal extended position and the high-lift device is in the device extended position. The end seal body in the seal extended position fills a discontinuity otherwise occurring between the device end and the aircraft body or airfoil leading edge if the end seal body were omitted.
