AIRCRAFT LANDING GEAR
An aircraft landing gear is disclosed having a landing gear leg attachable at a first end to an aircraft, and an axle beam, both the landing gear leg and the axle beam being rotatably mounted. The axle beam is rotatable between a first position, in which a first end of the axle beam is a first (shorter) distance from the first end of the landing gear leg, and a second position, in which said first end of the axle beam is a second (longer) distance from the first end of the landing gear leg. A biasing member is configured to be able to bias the axle beam towards the second position. An aircraft, a blended wing body aircraft, and a method of operating an aircraft are also disclosed.
INFORMATION PROCESSING DEVICE, MOBILE BODY, AND MOBILE-BODY-STATE DETERMINATION METHOD
An information processing device (10) includes a sensing section (140) that senses a pressure variation of a fluid filling a deformable filled section (130) that is provided to a portion of a leg of a mobile body (100) that is in either a contact state or a non-contact state at which portion the leg contacts an external environment, and a determining section (150) that determines a state of the leg of the mobile body (100) on the basis of the pressure variation of the fluid sensed by the sensing section (140).
COMPACT AERIAL MISSION MODULAR MATERIAL HANDLING SYSTEM
According to at least one exemplary embodiment, a method, system and apparatus for an aircraft may be shown and described. An exemplary embodiment may be an autonomous aircraft which can vertically takeoff and land (VTOL). The VTOL aircraft may have a modular pod which carries a removable payload. The entire VTOL aircraft may be portable. An exemplary embodiment may fit into a standard sized freight container. A propulsion system may be based on distributed electric propulsion. An exemplary embodiment may implement variable pitch propellers and collective pitch variation.
STRUCTURAL FUSE
A structural fuse is disclosed and configured to shear upon an application of a predetermined load and includes a plurality of elongate reinforcing elements in a metal matrix. The provision of a so-called metal matrix composite results in a fuse that is lighter in weight than a conventional metal pin and has improved fatigue properties and hence a longer operating life. The load (or range of loads) at which the fuse is arranged to shear can be engineered by careful arrangement of the orientation of the reinforcing elements, and by selecting the proportion of reinforcing elements in the matrix. Thus, a fuse having a narrower load range than hitherto achievable can be produced.
Covered retainer for segmented annular heat shield
A retainer for a segmented annular heat shield of a wheel includes a first end, a second end opposite the first end, and a body extending between the first end and the second end. Both the first end and the second end are configured to be coupled to at least one of the wheel and a torque bar. Further, the body includes opposing longitudinal sides configured to respectively engage and secure a respective heat shield segment of the segmented annular heat shield. Also, the retainer includes a cover coupled to and extending over at least the body, with an air gap being defined between the body and the cover.
Integrated landing gear fire detection and fatigue monitoring system
A system for an aircraft that includes a plurality of zones including: a first fiber optic cable routed through a zone of the plurality of zones. The first fiber optic cable is attached to a landing gear of the aircraft in the zone of the plurality of zones; and a first controller configured to provide a first optical signal to the first fiber optic cable and obtain a first optical response signal from the first fiber optic cable. The first controller is further configured to determine at least one temperature within the zone of the plurality of zones based on the first optical response signal, the first optical signal, and coherent optical frequency domain reflectometry (COFDR).
Health monitoring of aircraft landing gear mechanical structures
Methods and systems are provided that facilitate the maintenance of levered landing gears by monitoring the condition of the stop pads of such landing gears. One embodiment provides for calibrating a sensor for measuring a condition of a stop joint formed by a first stop pad and a second stop pad of a levered landing gear against a nominal condition of at least one of the first stop pad and the second stop pad; monitoring, by the sensor, a current condition of the at least one of the first stop pad and the second stop pad from the nominal condition; determining whether a non-conformance from the nominal condition of the at least one of the first stop pad and the second stop pad has been detected by the sensor for the current condition; and in response to determining that the non-conformance has been detected, generating an alert.
DOCKING PORT AND BATTERY CHARGING DEPOT FOR AN UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLE AND A METHOD FOR DOCKING AND CHARGING THE VEHICLE
A docking port is for an unmanned aerial vehicle being a rotorcraft, said docking port having at least one primary coil. The docking port has a primary coil housing formed with a funnel shaped indentation adapted to receive a complementary frustoconical shaped external surface of a secondary coil housing positioned on a landing gear of the rotorcraft, and the primary coil is formed to follow closely a funnel shaped indentation surface. The rotorcraft is charged wirelessly by the primary coil in the primary coil housing and a secondary coil in the secondary coil housing. The invention further concerns the landing gear and a system comprising the docking port and the landing gear. A method for docking the unmanned aerial vehicle on the docking port by use of a magnetic homing field is described.
FLYING VEHICLE SYSTEMS AND METHODS
An example charging station for an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), the charging station generally including a nest and a charging device. The nest includes an upper portion and a lower portion. The upper portion defines an upper opening sized and shaped to receive a landing apparatus of the UAV, and a diameter of the nest reduces from a first diameter at the upper opening to a second diameter at the lower portion. The charging device is mounted in the nest, and includes a first contact pad and a second contact pad. The charging device is configured to apply a voltage differential across the first contact pad and the second contact pad such that the charging station is operable to charge a power supply of the UAV via the landing apparatus.
Landing gear with hydraulic fluid channels
A torque link assembly may comprise an upper torque link, a lower torque link, and a torque link pin. The upper torque link may define an upper hydraulic fluid channel. The lower torque link may define a lower hydraulic fluid channel. The torque link pin may fluidly couple the upper hydraulic fluid channel to the lower hydraulic fluid channel.
