20210085335 · 2021-03-25 ·

The present disclosure relates to a medical compression device (1, 1) adapted to apply a compression force to a body part (L) of a human or animal. The device comprises one or more strips intended to encircle the body part. The strip comprises a tension indicator (8, 16) adapted to inform a user when a predetermined tension is achieved, the predetermined tension correlating to a predetermined pressure on the body part. The device can be used for therapy or for diagnosis.

HEMOSTAT-STYLE ULTRASONIC SURGICAL INSTRUMENT WITH CLAMP FORCE-LIMITING FEATURE
20210052293 · 2021-02-25 ·

An ultrasonic surgical instrument includes a first shaft member, a jaw member extending distally from the first shaft member, a second shaft member, an ultrasonic blade extending distally from the second shaft member and positioned to oppose the jaw member, and a force-limiting hinge assembly operably coupling the shaft members with one another such that movement of the shaft members between a spaced-apart position and an approximated position moves the jaw member and the ultrasonic blade between an open position and a clamping position for clamping tissue therebetween. The force-limiting hinge assembly includes a hinge arm fixedly engaged to one of the shaft members at a first end thereof and pivotably coupled to the other of the shaft members at a second end thereof. The hinge arm is configured to flex to regulate a clamping force applied to tissue clamped between the jaw member and the ultrasonic blade.

Energized medical device with reusable handle

An electrosurgical device may include a front portion releasably attached to a reusable handle. The reusable handle may include a single motor configured to actuate a tissue knife mechanism and an articulation mechanism in the front portion. The reusable handle may include a controller configured to sense a position of a knife advancement control in the front portion and actuate the tissue knife via the motor when the knife advancement control is at a predetermined position. The controller may receive data from the front portion indicating that the front portion includes an articulation joint. If the front portion includes an articulation joint, the controller may actuate, via the motor, an articulation mechanism to adjust an angle of the articulation joint when an articulation control in the front portion is at a predetermined position. The reusable handle may be used with a front portion having or lacking an articulation joint.

FORCE LIMITING ASSEMBLY FOR SURGICAL INSTRUMENT

A force limiting assembly for a surgical instrument that has a handle and a lever pivotally mounted to the handle at a pivot point for movement of an internal drive shaft. The lever is coupled to the drive shaft by a cantilever spring that is positioned within the lever. The free end of the cantilever is spaced apart from the pivot point of the lever and coupled to the drive shaft via stops positioned on the drive shaft on either side of the free end of the cantilever spring. As the lever is pivoting by a user, the forces move the drive shaft and bias the cantilever spring, thereby reducing and ultimately limiting the amount of force that a user may apply to the drive shaft via operation of the lever.

SUTURE PASSER WITH LOCKING ACTUATOR

Suture passer devices include a cannulated needle, a slidable member extending through the needle and a handle attached to a proximal portion of the needle. An actuator is in operative communication with a proximal portion of the slidable member. The actuator is configured to selectively translate the slidable member distally relative to the needle whereby the slidable member is extended relative to a distal portion of the needle and proximally relative to the needle whereby the slidable member is retracted and secured in a retracted position relative to the distal portion of the needle. The actuator further includes a locking mechanism for selectively locking the slidable member while in the retracted position. A first range of motion of the actuator is configured to control extending and retracting the slidable member and a second range of motion is configured to control locking and unlocking the slidable member.

Self-aligning pullwire for reloadable hemostasis clipping device

A system and method for treating tissue includes an applicator including a bushing and a control member. The control member extends through the bushing to an enlarged distal end. The system also includes clip assembly releasably coupleable to the applicator. The clip assembly includes clip arms and a yoke including a distal portion connected to the clip arms and a proximal portion. The proximal portion includes a slot configured to receive the enlarged distal end of the control member and at least one helical cut positioned at a proximal end of the slot. The helical cut is configured to rotate the enlarged distal end from a first orientation in which the enlarged distal end is offset from the slot to a second orientation in which the enlarged distal end is aligned with the slot so that when a force thereon exceeds a threshold value, the enlarged distal end passes into the slot.

DRILL ASSEMBLY FOR PREPARATION OF SURGICAL SITES

This disclosure relates to a drill assembly and method for preparing a surgical site. The drill assembly disclosed herein may be utilized for removing bone prior to positioning a graft and/or implant at a surgical site.

Surgical dissectors and manufacturing techniques

A surgical instrument comprising an end effector is disclosed. The end effector comprises a surgical dissector.

Methods, systems, and devices for controlling electrosurgical tools

Various exemplary methods, systems, and devices for controlling electrosurgical tools are provided. In general, an electrosurgical tool is configured to apply energy to tissue, such as via an end effector of the surgical tool. The energy can include one or more types of energy, such as electrical energy, ultrasonic energy, and heat energy. The electrical energy can be a high frequency alternating current such as radiofrequency (RP) energy, or can be another type of electrical energy.

System and Method For Integrated Surgical Guide-Hub and Drill with Guided Drilling and Plunge Protection

A drilling system includes a guide-hub that includes contact feet configured to be placed against a drilling surface to maintain a fixed angle with the drilling surface. A drilling insert includes a drill bit and a harness. The drilling insert is configured to be inserted into the guide-hub and the harness is configured to detect when the drill bit punctures the drilling surface and automatically prevent further drilling.
