Safe vertical take-off and landing aircraft payload assignment
Vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft can provide opportunities to incorporate aerial transportation into transportation networks for cities and metropolitan areas. However, VTOL aircraft can be sensitive to uneven weight distributions, e.g., the payload of an aircraft is primarily loaded in the front, back, left, or right. When the aircraft is loaded unevenly, the center of mass of the aircraft may shift substantially enough to negatively impact performance of the aircraft. Thus, in turn, there is an opportunity that the VTOL may be loaded unevenly if seating and/or luggage placement is not coordinated. Among other advantages, dynamically assigning the VTOL aircraft payloads can increase VTOL safety by ensuring the VTOL aircraft is loaded evenly and meets all weight requirements; can increase transportation efficiency by increasing rider throughput; and can increase the availability of the VTOL services to all potential riders.
Air-conditioning duct structure of aircraft, aircraft, and method of manufacturing aircraft
An air-conditioning duct structure of an aircraft includes an air-conditioning duct that is provided on each of a starboard side and a port side and guides conditioned air to a vicinity of a ceiling of a cabin in the aircraft. The air-conditioning duct includes a blowout portion and a blowout upstream portion. The blowout portion blows out the conditioned air to the cabin from an outboard side of the ceiling to an inboard side of the ceiling and toward a lower part than the ceiling, and the blowout upstream portion communicates with an upstream side of the blowout portion. In addition, the blowout portion or the blowout upstream portion is curved to cause a terminal end side of the blowout portion to be inclined downward with respect to a horizontal direction.
Cabinet and method for making the same, and aircraft including a cabinet
Cabinets, methods for making cabinets, and aircraft including cabinets are provided. In one example, a cabinet includes a cabinet body that at least partially surrounds a cabinet space and that defines a cabinet opening that allows access to the cabinet space. A cabinet door at least partially covers the cabinet opening when in a closed position and extends upward from a lower edge portion to an upper edge portion. The cabinet door has an outer exposed surface facing generally in a first direction away from the cabinet space when in the closed position. The cabinet door is operatively coupled to the cabinet body for opening from the closed position to an open position including the lower edge portion moving generally upward and the upper edge portion moving generally upward and towards the first direction to expose the cabinet opening.
Compartment content notification and inspection device and method
A system and method for vehicle compartment item presence indication senses an item within a vehicle compartment and notifies a user if the item is expected or unexpected within the compartment based on a vehicle state. Should the item be expected in a compartment during a phase of flight where the compartment is expected to contain items, there is no abnormal indication. However, if a compartment is expected to be empty during a specific phase of flight and the sensors indicate an item is present, the system will alert the user to the unexpected item.
Aircraft bench seat assembly
A bench seat assembly that includes a first seat that includes a seat portion and a back, a second seat that includes a seat portion and a back, and a center portion positioned between the first and second seats. The first seat is bifurcated by a first vertical plane, the second seat is bifurcated by a second vertical plane, and the center portion is bifurcated by a center vertical plane. The first seat is angled outwardly such that the first plane defines a first acute angle with the center plane and the second seat is angled outwardly such that the second plane defines a second acute angle with the center plane. The first acute angle and the second acute angle are approximately the same.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MOVEABLY SUPPORTING AN ULTRAVIOLET (UV) LIGHT LAMP WITHIN AN ENCLOSED SPACE
A disinfecting system and method for an enclosed space include an articulating arm moveably coupled to a structure within the enclosed space. An ultraviolet (UV) lamp is coupled to the articulating arm. The UV lamp is configured to emit UV light toward a disinfection zone within the enclosed space. The articulating arm allows the UV lamp to move relative to the disinfection zone.
TRAPEZOIDAL CART STOWAGE FOR AIRCRAFT
An aircraft interior structure for an aircraft cabin may include a main body with a plurality of walls, where at least one wall of the plurality of walls may be shared with an adjacent passenger suite including an aircraft seat. The passenger suite may be installed at an angle relative to an aisle of the aircraft cabin. The aircraft interior structure may include a cavity defined within the main body. The cavity may be a trapezoidal shape defined at least in part by the angle at which the passenger suite is installed in the aircraft cabin. The cavity may be configured to receive a plurality of galley carts. A length of each of the plurality of galley carts may be dependent on a depth of the cavity at respective locations in the trapezoidal shape.
FASTENING SYSTEM FOR THE SUSPENDED INSTALLATION OF STOWAGE COMPARTMENTS, IN PARTICULAR IN AIRCRAFT
A fastening system for suspended installation of stowage compartments, in particular in aircraft, includes a first fastening element, which fastens on a supporting structure, a second fastening element, which fastens on a stowage compartment, and a connecting arrangement, configured for surface-area fastening on the first fastening element. The connecting arrangement and the second fastening element each include a supporting eyelet for accommodating a fastening bolt, to fasten the connecting arrangement on the second fastening element. The first fastening element and the connecting arrangement each include a fastening surface for fastening on one another, and therefore a continuous insulation layer can be positioned between the fastening surfaces, or between the supporting structure and the first fastening element, for the purpose of insulating the supporting structure, in order for the supporting structure alone or together with the first fastening element to be insulated throughout in relation to the connecting arrangement.
NEAR-FIELD COMMUNICATION ENABLED LUGGAGE ITEM STOWAGE BINS
A processing system of a carrier transport vehicle including at least one processor may obtain a notification of a luggage item to be placed in a stowage bin of the carrier transport vehicle, the notification including an identifier of the luggage item, detect, via the identifier of the luggage item, that the luggage item is proximate to the stowage bin, where the identifier of the luggage item is obtained via a wireless signal from the luggage item, and present at least one visual indicator associated with the stowage bin, in response to the detecting that the luggage item is proximate to the stowage bin.
Overhead payload module with integrated stowbins
In an example, an overhead payload module is described. The overhead payload module comprises a ceiling assembly, an aisle floor assembly, a first payload assembly attached to the ceiling assembly and the aisle floor assembly to form a first side of the overhead payload module, and a second payload assembly attached to the ceiling assembly and the aisle floor assembly to form a second side of the overhead payload module. The first payload assembly comprises a first payload module and a first overhead stowbin module structurally integrated with the first payload module and having a first stowage area configured to receive stowbins. The second payload assembly is positioned opposite the first payload assembly to form an aisle therebetween and comprises a second payload module and a second overhead stowbin module structurally integrated with the second payload module and having a second stowage area configured to receive stowbins.
