Airflow modification apparatus and method
An apparatus for modifying aircraft cabin airflow includes a redirector configured to receive an airflow from an inlet of an aircraft cabin. The redirector is configured to downwardly redirect at least a portion of the airflow. In one embodiment, the redirector includes a dividing portion configured to be oriented generally parallel to the airflow received at the redirector from the cabin inlet, and further includes a redirecting portion configured to be oriented in a generally downward direction. In another embodiment, the redirector includes an elongated protrusion configured to be positioned on a ceiling of the aircraft cabin.
TEMPERATURE CONTROL SYSTEM IN A PASSENGER SERVICE UNIT
A temperature control system in an aircraft passenger service unit is disclosed. In embodiments, the system includes a swirl chamber configured to receive an inlet air stream, and a vortex tube configured to receive the inlet air stream from the swirl chamber and separate the inlet air stream into a warmer air stream and a cooler air stream. In embodiments, the system further includes a nozzle configured to direct a temperature-controlled air stream into a passenger space of an aircraft; wherein the nozzle is configured to be selectably adjusted in order to selectively blend the warmer air stream and the cooler air stream in order to generate the temperature-controlled air stream.
RETRACTABLE AIR GASPER APPARATUS
An air gasper (air) for a vehicle includes an air inlet (26), a first housing (24) disposable through a panel in the vehicle (12), the first housing (24) being connected to the air inlet (26), a second housing (70) disposed within the first housing (24), an air outlet (72) disposed within the second housing (70), downstream of the air inlet (26), and a first mechanism (102, 70) connected between the first housing (24) and the second housing (70). The first mechanism (102, 70) permits the second housing (70) to be stowed within the first housing (24) in a stowed position and also permits the second housing (70) to extend outwardly from the first housing (24) in a deployed position.
Direction controlled service apparatus
A direction controlled service apparatus may include a mounting assembly, a housing assembly configured to operably connect to the mounting assembly, the housing assembly being movable with respect to the mounting assembly, and a plurality of actuators connected between the mounting assembly and the housing assembly, each actuator of the plurality of actuators being configured to contract upon a current being applied to the actuator to rotate the housing assembly with respect to the mounting assembly.
METHODS AND APPARATUS TO DIRECT VENTILATION OF VEHICLE OCCUPANTS
Methods and apparatus to direct ventilation of vehicle occupants are disclosed. A disclosed example apparatus includes an air supply duct of a cabin of a vehicle, a manifold fluidly coupled to the air supply duct, the manifold to extend to occupant seats of the cabin, and nozzles fluidly coupled to the manifold, the nozzles to be positioned to face toward a front of a face of an occupant when the occupant occupies one of the occupant seats.
SANITIZING SYSTEM
A sanitizing system includes a plurality of ultraviolet (UV) lamps mounted at various locations within an internal cabin of a vehicle. The UV lamps are configured to receive electrical power from a power source onboard the vehicle and to emit UV light into the internal cabin on a continuous basis during a trip of the vehicle. The UV lamps are positioned such that the emitted UV light disinfects air within the internal cabin.
PASSENGER AIR SHIELD
Embodiments are directed toward an air directing device that can interface with an aircraft to form an air curtain. The air directing device can include a housing with one or more inlets and one or more outlets. An engagement component can engage the air directing device with a PSU of an aircraft. The air directing device can receive air from the PSU through the inlet and direct the air to the outlets. The outlets can include nozzles that output the air curtain.
INFLATABLE ISOLATION WALLS FOR AIRCRAFT CABINS
A partition for dividing a portion of an aircraft including at least a first inflatable cavity defined by a plurality of material sheets, and a nozzle configured to provide fluidic access to the first inflatable cavity, wherein the nozzle is configured to attach to an aircraft air vent.
DEPLOYABLE ULTRAVIOLET SANITATION SYSTEM FOR AN AIRCRAFT
A sanitation system includes an overhead passenger service unit panel with a concealed light source providing a single wavelength of Ultraviolet light wherein the light source is deployed and sanitation is performed when the aircraft cabin is free of commercial passengers.
POSITION DETECTOR, PASSENGER SERVICE CHANNEL AND VEHICLE AREA FOR DETERMINING THE LOCATION OF A PASSENGER SERVICE UNIT
A position detector for a passenger service unit which can be installed in a passenger service channel The position detector includes a sensor rail which has a multiplicity of sensors and is configured to be fitted in the longitudinal direction of the passenger service channel The position detector also includes a position marker which is configured to be fastened to the passenger service unit and to trigger a sensor signal at one of the multiplicity of sensors. A passenger service channel having a position detector and a vehicle area having a passenger service channel are also described.
