The pinion gear is supported by a pinion bearing that may be press fit onto the pinion gear and by one of the generator bearings.
Ram air fan and power electronics cooling systems
A power electronics cooling system includes a ram air fan with one or more blades and a ram air fan motor connected via an output shaft. The ram air fan draws in air and passes it across a heat exchanger to cool one or more cooling liquids. One or more pumps pressurize and pump the cooling liquids to various electronic components, including one or more motor controllers. The pumps may be mechanically or electrically coupled to the output shaft of the ram air fan, such that the motor of the ram air fan provides energy to the pumps.
LOCKING AND UNLOCKING MECHANISM
A locking mechanism for releasably locking a lock bolt against axial movement, the mechanism comprising an axially moveable member, arranged to move axially with the lock bolt biasing means, arranged to bias the piston towards the lock bolt; rotation means in threaded engagement with the piston such that rotation of the rotation means causes axial movement of the piston, and a solenoid assembly arranged to prevent rotation of said rotation means in a locked state, the solenoid assembly comprising: a solenoid plunger having a solenoid tip and a solenoid arranged to cause movement of the solenoid plunger relative to the rotation means, the solenoid assembly arranged such that in a locked state the solenoid causes the solenoid tip to engage with the rotation means such as to prevent rotation thereof, thus preventing axial movement of the piston.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL SYSTEM UTILIZING TWO PASS SECONDARY HEAT EXCHANGER AND CABIN PRESSURE ASSIST
A system is provided. The system includes an inlet providing a first medium; a compressing device comprising a compressor, and at least one heat exchanger located downstream of the compressor. The compressing device is in communication with the inlet providing the first medium. The at least one heat exchanger includes a first pass and a second pass. An outlet of the first pass of the at least one heat exchanger is in fluid communication with an inlet of the compressor.
FAILSAFE DEPLOYMENT FEATURE FOR ACTUATOR
A linear actuator includes a fixed first end, a second end movable linearly along a central axis of the actuator, an inner cylinder configured to urge axial movement of the second end, and a piston assembly including a piston rod located inside of the inner cylinder. One or more locking pawls are located in pawl openings in the piston rod. The one or more locking pawls are selectably engagable with the inner cylinder to prevent relative motion of the piston rod and the inner cylinder. A lockbolt selectably releases the one or more locking pawls from engagement with the inner cylinder and includes an antilock pin engagable with a pawl opening in the one or more locking pawls to urge the one or more locking pawls away from the inner cylinder with axial movement of the lockbolt.
Power interruption bridge circuit
A controller is employed in conjunction with an electrical power distribution system (EPDS). The controller includes at least a first input for receiving DC power from a DC power bus and a power supply circuit connected to the first input to provide operational power to the controller. The controller further includes a power interrupt bridge circuit that monitors the voltage provided of the first input. In response to the monitored voltage being less than a threshold value, the power interrupt bridge circuit supplies power to the power supply circuit from a DC emergency source for a defined time period.
Inner housing assembly including retention slots
A ram air fan assembly includes a motor/bearing housing that extends along a horizontal length of the ram air fan assembly. An inner housing assembly is in fluid communication with the motor/bearing housing to define a joint. The inner housing assembly includes first and second ellipse-shaped slots. The first slot is positioned at a first angle with respect to a radial axis of the inner housing assembly that is perpendicular to the horizontal length, and the second slot is positioned at a second angle with respect to the radial axis, the second angle being different from the first angle, and each slot extending along a first direction parallel to the horizontal length to define an axial width and extending along a radial axis to define a radial width being greater than the axial width.
