20210393824 · 2021-12-23 · ·

A sanitizing system includes a plurality of ultraviolet (UV) lamps and a control unit that includes one or more processors. The UV lamps are mounted at various locations within an internal cabin of a vehicle. The UV lamps are configured to receive electrical power from a power source onboard the vehicle and to emit UV light into the internal cabin during a trip of the vehicle. The control unit is operatively connected to the UV lamps and configured to modify the electrical power supplied to one or more of the UV lamps located in a common area of the internal cabin based on occupancy of the common area.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR DECONTAMINATING AIRCRAFT CABINS AND PROVIDING INDICATIONS FOR SAFE REENTRY

Described herein are methods and systems for decontaminating aircraft cabins and providing an indication to provide confidence that the cabins are safe for reentry post-operation. These methods and systems are based on reducing concentrations of infectious agents inside a cabin utilizing outside air and/or filtered air. In some examples, a method is performed after a certain contamination event (e.g., a sick person present on a flight and/or as a part of periodic service (e.g., in between flights. The amount of time the system is run to introduce compounds into the cabin is specifically calculated to lower the fraction of the remaining infectious agents below a certain desired level, thereby reducing the contamination concentration in the cabin from the initial concentration, The decontamination duration depends on the cabin volume and the incoming airflow rates. For example, the fraction of the remaining is brought below 5% after 9 minutes of flowing incoming air at 20 air changes per hour.

SPRAY MECHANISM FOR SANITIZING AN AIRCRAFT
20210393832 · 2021-12-23 ·

A sanitizing system includes a dispensing unit having a fluid storage and a compressed air generator. The fluid storage stores one or more disinfecting fluids or other sanitizing agents. The sanitizing system has an interconnect configured as an adapter that defines a conduit or passageway in an airflow path between a low pressure ground air supply and a connection port on an aircraft. The dispensing unit is configured to dispense the one or more disinfecting fluids or other sanitizing agents into the airflow path via the interconnect.

Methods for Marking Surfaces Using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

Methods and apparatus for UAV-enabled marking of surfaces during manufacture, inspection, or repair of limited-access structures and objects. A UAV is equipped with a marking module that is configured to apply marking patterns (e.g., alignment features) of known dimensions to surfaces. The marking module may include a 2-D plotter that enables free-form drawing capability. The marking process may involve depositing material on the surface. The marking material may be either permanent or removable. A “clean-up” module may be attached to the UAV platform instead of the marking module, and may include solvents and oscillating or vibrating pads to remove the marks via scrubbing. The clean-up module can also be used for initial surface preparation.

SELF-DISINFECTING PORTABLE PHYSICAL PARTITIONS FOR AIRCRAFT INTERIORS

A self-disinfecting partition system is disclosed. The system includes a housing, and an attachment element configured to attach the housing to a surface. The system further includes one or more arms configured to deploy from a stored position an extended position. The system further includes a flexible screen coupled to the one or more arms configured to restrict a transmission of microbes. The system further includes a retraction assembly configured to retract the flexible screen into the housing. The system further includes an electromagnetic energy source disposed within the housing configured to emits disinfecting electromagnetic energy onto the flexible screen. A second self-disinfecting partition system is disclosed that includes a housing configured to fit around the headrest and/or seatback of a passenger seat. The system further includes an accordion-folded flexible screen coupled to the housing that deploys from the housing and disinfected via electromagnetic energy.
