A disinfection system is disclosed. The disinfection system includes a base, a first arm mechanically coupled to the base at a first joint, a second arm mechanically coupled to the first arm at a second joint, and an emission module mechanically coupled to the second arm at a third joint. The emission module may include a third arm that includes one or more scanners configured to emit electromagnetic energy further configured to disinfect a first surface. The emission module may also include the one or more scanners, focusing lens, a lens frame, and a rotary actuator, wherein the rotary actuator is configured to align one of the one or more scanners with the focusing lens to produce a narrow electromagnetic beam, or position the focusing lens out of alignment with the one of the one or more scanners to produce a broad electromagnetic beam.

METHODS FOR REFURBISHING AEROSPACE COMPONENTS

Embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to methods for refurbishing aerospace components by removing corrosion and depositing protective coatings. In one or more embodiments, a method of refurbishing an aerospace component includes exposing the aerospace component containing corrosion to an aqueous cleaning solution. The aerospace component contains a nickel superalloy, an aluminide layer disposed on the nickel superalloy, and an aluminum oxide layer disposed on the aluminide layer. The method includes removing the corrosion from a portion of the aluminum oxide layer with the aqueous cleaning solution to reveal the aluminum oxide layer, then exposing the aluminum oxide layer to a post-rinse, and forming a protective coating on the aluminum oxide layer.

System and method of performing operations on artifacts with stowable robotic pods

A system and method for operating at least one stowable automated robotic pod in a workplace having a workpiece is disclosed. The pod includes a robot on a base that can also include one or both of a tool nest and process equipment. A door to subfloor storage allows the pod to raise its base vertical, placing the robot into the desired vertical position in the workspace. Once operations on the workpiece are complete, the pod withdraws back to the subfloor storage and the doors to the storage volume close.

Aircraft cabin disinfection

The disclosure describes a method for disinfecting an aircraft cabin that includes injecting a non-peroxide disinfectant into an environmental control system of an aircraft and discharging cabin supply air through the environmental control system to discharge the non-peroxide disinfectant into the aircraft cabin. In some instances, the method includes aerosolizing the disinfectant into a plurality of liquid droplets while injecting the disinfectant into the environmental control system. In some instances, the injected disinfectant includes a non-corrosive, non-toxic disinfectant, such that the disinfectant may be discharged into the aircraft cabin in the presence of personnel in the aircraft cabin.

DEHUMIDIFIER QUILT SYSTEMS AND METHODS

A method for dehumidifying a perforated acoustic skin includes disposing a sheet of material over a perforated acoustic skin, sealing a periphery of the sheet of material to the perforated acoustic skin to form a cavity between the sheet of material and the perforated acoustic skin, disposing at least one dehumidifier in fluid communication with the cavity, and activating the dehumidifier to remove moist air from a core of the perforated acoustic skin. The dehumidifier(s) may be mounted to the sheet of material.
