DEVICE FOR DEPLOYING AND POINTING AN EQUIPMENT ITEM CARRIED BY A SPACECRAFT
A device for deploying and pointing an equipment item is disclosed including a mobile platform for receiving the equipment item, a carrier integrally secured to a wall of a spacecraft, and three identical linear actuators which connect the carrier to the mobile platform and are suitable for moving the platform in translation along one axis and for orienting the platform in rotation about two axes. Each linear actuator including a first portion connected to the platform by a universal joint, a second portion connected to the carrier by a pivot connection, a motor, and a screw/nut joint interconnecting the two portions, each universal joint being suitable for preventing the screw/nut joint from rotating about the axis, such that driving the motor causes a translational movement between the first and the second portion.
Symmetrical continuous multidirectional ultra-light ultra-strong structure
A multidimensional structures that is formed of thirty six interconnecting members in such a manner as to form eight (8) tetrahedrons and six (6) octahedrons thereby providing a structure that is both light weight and strong, the interconnecting members variously intersecting at a central point that may be formed of a single unified structure having fillets in the middle of the multidimensional structure and at twelve (12) external connecting points.

Deployable structure for use in establishing a reflectarray antenna
A deployable structure for use in establishing a reflectarray antenna is provided that includes a flexible reflectarray and a deployment structure that includes an endless pantograph for deploying the flexible reflectarray from a folded, undeployed state towards a deployed state in which the flexible reflectarray is substantially planar. In a particular embodiment, the deployment structure includes a plurality of tapes that engage the endless pantograph and are used to establish a positional relationship between the deployed reflectarray and another component of the reflectarray antenna.
Systems and methods for creating and automating an enclosed volume with a flexible fuel tank and propellant metering for machine operations
An enclosed volume is provided for performing operations in space, or on any astronomical object, in a manner separated from aspects of the external environment. The enclosed volume can be a flexible container for a satellite. The enclosed volume can include a membrane having a fluid barrier layer and being configured to contain a propellant gas or fluid; and an expulsion device configured to expel material from the membrane. In a stowed configuration, the flexible container is contained within the satellite, and in a deployed configuration, the flexible container extends away from the satellite. The flexible container can inflate from one shape, in the undeployed configuration, to another shape, in a deployed configuration. The other shape can be toroidal or other appropriate shapes. The flexible container can provide bipropellant, blowdown, and gas/fluid metering functionality. Entertainment and game play can be enabled by the enclosed volume involving robots and other devices.

Deployable fairing for rideshare satellites
Provided herein are various improvements to launch vehicle payload systems, such as employed to launch and deploy secondary payloads into orbit. In one example, a system includes a fairing configured to encase a payload within an envelope of a primary fairing of a launch vehicle, and a mount system configured to adapt a mounting port for the payload to a mounting port associated with the launch vehicle. The system also includes a fairing door configured to be commanded open for deployment of the payload after the primary fairing has open.
Spacecraft
The invention relates to a spacecraft comprising a body having two opposite faces; a first radiator carried by at least one face; the first radiator having an outer face; a first supporting arm extending substantially perpendicularly to the outer face of the first radiator; a drive motor suitable for rotating the first supporting arm about its longitudinal axis a first assembly carried by the first supporting arm, said first assembly comprising a plurality of slats stationary with respect to the first supporting arm; said slats being attached one above the other and separated from each other by a free space.
FOLD-OUT SATELLITE WITH INTEGRATED RADIATOR PANEL
An example of a satellite includes a first radiator panel with first heat-generating components attached to its surface and a second radiator panel with second heat-generating components attached to its surface. One or more actuators are configured to deploy the first and second radiator panels from a compact configuration in which the first and second radiator panels are overlapping to a deployed configuration in which the first and second radiator panels are non-overlapping.
SINGLE-POINT RELEASE MECHANISM FOR SPACECRAFT
A spacecraft includes a main body, a set of panels attached to a side of the main body, and a retaining the set of panels adjacent to the main body. The single-point release device includes a heater for generating heat to expand a thermally sensitive material, a membrane-based actuator for providing a linear movement based on a phase change of the thermally sensitive material contained in the membrane-based actuator, and a release fitting and a release rod for retaining and selectively releasing a pin based on the linear movement of the membrane-based actuator. The membrane-based actuator is configured to push the pin through the release fitting.
