COMPACT UNMANNED AERIAL SYSTEM
A method and apparatus for an unmanned aerial system is described herein. An unmanned aerial system capable of being launched from a grenade launcher includes a tubular body that encloses a compartment for a payload and a battery, a motor coupled to the tubular body, a propeller coupled to the motor, and a parachute disposed within the tubular body when the unmanned aerial system is in a stowed configuration and disposed outside of the tubular body when the unmanned aerial system is in a powered flight configuration.
Airborne device
The invention concerns an airborne device comprising at least three supporting wings and a linking device, the wings being linked to each other by first flexible cables, each wing being further linked to the linking device by a second flexible cable, the linking device being linked to a third flexible cable intended to be linked to a base, the first second, and third cables being tensioned when the airborne device is carried in the wind.
SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND DEVICES FOR IMPROVING SAFETY AND FUNCTIONALITY OF CRAFT HAVING ONE OR MORE ROTORS
An approach is provided for enhancing the safety and functionality of unmanned rotorcraft by improving reliability, transparency, operational capabilities, and effectiveness. Embodiments include integration of rotorcraft with objects attached to the ground (including kites, balloons, or elevated structures) in order to create safe and visible sky moorings from which devices such as cameras on the craft can operate for extended periods of time while remote control can be used to move and stabilize the camera and/or the kite or balloon to which it is attached. In addition, the rotorcraft in such sky moorings can be enclosed for protection, can employ connections for systems maintenance, and can utilize changeable payload modules having supplies that the rotorcraft can dispatch or use in various contexts such as emergency situations or to provide security at venues with large gatherings of people, such as concerts.
Integrated tether and mooring with floating platform for energy kite
Offshore airborne wind turbine systems with an aerial vehicle connected to an undersea anchor via a tether are disclosed. A floating landing platform may be coupled to the tether and be dragged along the surface of the water along with the tether. The landing platform may be designed such that the tether can freely pass through the platform, allowing the aerial vehicle to ascend, descend, move laterally, and in crosswind flight, without creating a significant tension load on landing platform. The landing platform may also include a tether drive mechanism that can actively move the tether through the platform, thus changing the platform's location along the length of the tether.
Deployable emergency situation awareness support system
A deployable device mountable on a carrier vehicle and configured to collect situation awareness data. The deployable device includes at least one recorder device configured to collect situation awareness data. The deployable device is capable of being ejected from the carrier vehicle and can be configured to operate as a vehicle and/or be towed by the carrier vehicle. The deployable device can continue collection of situation awareness data after being ejected.
Methods and systems for controlling motion of floating ground station
System and methods for controlling the oscillation of floating ground stations in aerial wind turbine systems are disclosed. Thrusters on the ground station or on one or more aerial vehicles associated with the ground station apply a compensatory force to the oscillating ground station to reduce and/or substantially eliminate wave-induced oscillations. Submerged thrusters may also rotate the ground station to a preferred alignment direction with the waves. Additionally, control systems use environmental and/or positional sensor data to develop a predictive force profile that maps desired compensatory force magnitude versus time. The control systems use that predictive force profile to direct the thrusters to apply a varying compensatory force over time.
POWER GENERATING WINDBAGS AND WATERBAGS
A method of using a bagged power generation system comprising windbags and waterbags integrated with drones and adapting drone technologies for harnessing wind and water power to produce electricity. An extremely scalable and environmentally friendly method, system, apparatus, equipment, techniques and ecosystem configured to produce renewable green energy with high productivity and efficiency.
Apparatuses for Releasing a Payload from an Aerial Tether
Described herein are apparatuses for passively releasing a payload of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). An example apparatus may include, among other features, (i) a housing; (ii) a swing arm coupled to the housing, wherein the swing arm is operable to toggle between an open position and a closed position; (iii) a spring mechanism adapted to exert a force on the swing arm from the open position toward the closed position; (iv) a receiving system of a UAV adapted to receive the housing, wherein the receiving system causes the swing arm to be arranged in the open position; and (v) a spool operable to unwind and wind a tether coupled to the housing, wherein unwinding the tether causes a descent of the housing from the receiving system, and wherein winding the tether causes an ascent of the housing to the receiving system.
DRONE PARACHUTE SYSTEMS FOR DELIVERY OR RECOVERY
A system for payload delivery and drone recovery, wherein the system functions with the use of a lightweight parachute and a directional control module. The system can include a drop system for payload delivery, wherein the drop system releases the parachute and payload upon reaching a target site. The system can also include a recovery system, wherein the recovery system deploys the parachute and steers the failed drone to a target site. A lightweight ram-air parachute is used to provide a lighter steerable parachute system.
