AUTOMATIC INSTRUMENT POSITION ADJUSTMENT

Disclosed herein are systems and techniques for compensating for insertion of an instrument into a working channel of another instrument in a surgical system. According to one embodiment, a method of compensation includes: detecting insertion of an insertable instrument into a working channel of a flexible instrument; detecting, based on a data signal from at least one sensor, a position change of a distal portion of the flexible instrument from an initial position: generating a control signal based on the detected position change; and adjusting a tensioning of a pull wire based on the control signal to return the distal portion to the initial position.

SPHINCTEROTOMES AND METHODS FOR USING SPHINCTEROTOMES

Sphincterotomes and methods for making and using sphincterotomes are disclosed. An example sphincterotome may include an elongate shaft having an outer surface and a distal end region. The sphincterotome may also include a sphincterotome wire assembly having a distal end coupled to the distal end region of the elongate shaft and a body portion extending along the outer surface of the elongate shaft. The sphincterotome wire assembly may be designed to shift the distal end region of the elongate shaft between a first configuration and a curved configuration. The body portion of the sphincterotome wire assembly may include a cutting region and a nonconductive region.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR IMAGE MAPPING AND FUSION DURING SURGICAL PROCEDURES
20230099835 · 2023-03-30 ·

A method for mapping and fusing endoscopy images includes capturing a first image of an object within a surgical operative site, by a first imaging device; and capturing a second image of the object, by a second imaging device. The first image includes the first light radiating from the object, and a first reference point. The second image includes the second light radiating from the object, and a second reference point. The method further includes comparing a first location of the first reference point in the first image to a second location of the second reference point in the second image, determining a relative pose of the first imaging device to the second imaging device based on the comparing, generating an augmented image fusing the first image and the second image based on the determined relative pose, and displaying the augmented image on a display.
