Surgical Systems And Methods For Identifying Tools Guided By Surgical Robots
Systems and methods for assisting users with accurate tool identification. A tool includes a tool feature, and a navigation system includes a localizer to detect a position of the tool feature. A memory stores identification data associated with a plurality of tools. Controller(s) is/are coupled to the navigation system, the memory and the display. The controller(s) receive, from the localizer, the detected position of the tool feature and compare the detected position of the tool feature with the identification data stored in the memory to determine an identity of the tool. The controller(s) present, on a display, the identity of the tool and an identity of at least one other tool.

Assessing sepsis risk based on dwell times of invasive devices
Various methods, systems, and devices relate to identifying a sepsis risk of an individual based on a dwell time of an invasive device in the individual. An example method includes receiving, from multiple transceivers, location data indicating first signals transmitted between the multiple transceivers and a tag attached to the invasive device. A location of the invasive device can be identified based on the location data. The dwell time can be determined based on the location. In certain examples, a second signal indicating the sepsis risk can be generated.
COMPUTER-ASSISTED SURGERY SYSTEM
A computer-assisted surgery system allows a user to control movements of a surgical tool by providing, to a control unit, inputs in the form of measured displacements via a movable part of a handle while treating a region of interest with the tool. The control unit is configured to enable motion of the tool with respect to an anatomical structure only if a user moves the movable part, receive the measured displacement of the movable part, receive from a localization unit the relative position and orientation of the tool relative to the anatomical structure, based on the measured displacement, on the surgical plan and on the relative position and orientation of the tool relative to the anatomical structure, compute an instruction to send to a motorized joint to move a robotic arm to operate the tool according to an optimal trajectory, and send the computed instruction to the motorized joint.
SYSTEM FOR PROVIDING IDENTIFICATION AND INFORMATION, AND FOR SCHEDULING ALERTS
A device and system for providing identification and medical information are disclosed. The device includes a readable code that contains medical biographical information of the subject, a programmable reporter element that is programmed to electronically store at least one particular event relating to the subject, and a signal producing element functionally related to the programmable reporter element. The system includes collecting and storing medical biographical information of a subject, embedding the medical biographical information in a readable code of the device, and scanning the readable code of the device worn by or in the possession of the subject using an appliance to retrieve the medical biographical information of the subject. The medical biographical information allows medical professionals to obtain the subject's medical information in order to provide medical care. Also disclosed is an integrated system for alerting subjects to upcoming events related to their continued care.

Robotic surgical assemblies
A surgical instrument holder includes a carriage, a housing, and a drive assembly. The carriage is configured for engagement to a surgical robotic arm and for supporting an instrument drive unit. The housing extends from the carriage and defines a channel. The drive assembly includes a pulley, a belt, and an annular member. The pulley is rotatably disposed within the housing and in operable engagement with a motor of the carriage such that actuation of the motor rotates the pulley. The belt is rotatably disposed within the housing and in operable engagement with the pulley such that rotation of the pulley effects rotation of the belt. The annular member is disposed within the channel of the housing and configured for non-rotatable receipt of an instrument drive unit. The annular member is in operable engagement with the belt such that rotation of the belt effects rotation of the annular member.
STERILIZATION SYSTEM WITH AUTOMATED STERILIZATION DATA PROCESSING AND RELATED METHODS
A sterilization system with automated sterilization data processing and related methods. In one aspect, the sterilization system receives mechanical indicator values and chemical indicator values for the sterilization cycle. The system determines whether the mechanical indicator values and chemical indicator values for the sterilization cycle match predetermined criteria. In response to the mechanical indicator and chemical indicator values for the sterilization cycle matching predetermined criteria, the system automatically generates a sterilization record in accordance with the first sterilization cycle data and second sterilization cycle data, stores the sterilization record in a sterilization database, and prints a sterilization label for each sterilized item in the sterilization cycle. Each sterilization label includes a Quick Response (QR) code encoding information for sterilization cycle.
ELECTROSURGICAL NETWORK
An electrosurgical system comprising: a plurality of electrosurgical connection units, each electrosurgical connection unit comprising an input port connectable to an electrosurgical channel and an output port connectable to an electrosurgical instrument, the electrosurgical connection unit configured to connect the input port to the output port; an electrosurgical network comprising a plurality of electrosurgical links that connect the input ports of the electrosurgical connection units to an electrosurgical channel; and a control unit configured to: receive information from a device indicating that the device has detected an electrosurgical generator connected to the electrosurgical channel, the device being one of the electrosurgical connection units and an electrosurgical output device connected to the electrosurgical channel; determine a location of the electrosurgical generator in the electrosurgical network based on the received information; and transmit one or more control signals to the electrosurgical connection units and/or one or more electrosurgical output devices connected to the electrosurgical channel to cause the output port of a selected combination of electrosurgical connection units to be connected to the electrosurgical channel based on the determined location of the electrosurgical generator.
GENERATING INTERACTIVE ZONES FOR INTERVENTIONAL MEDICAL DEVICES
A concept for facilitating a user interface for interacting with interventional medical devices depicted in an image. The positions of one or more features of at least one interventional medical device are identified. A size and shape of an interactive zone is determined for each feature, where an interactive zone (when provided on a display of a user interface) facilitates interaction with the corresponding feature and/or interventional medical device. The size of the interactive zone is chosen to be larger than the size of the feature. A position for the interactive zone is selected based on the position/position of the corresponding feature in the image. Zone information is then output to define the size, shape and position of the interactive zones with respect to the image.
