Systems and methods for assessing infant and child development via eye tracking
Systems, devices, and methods are described for assessing the risk of developmental, cognitive, social, or mental abilities or disabilities in very young patients (e.g., in the first 2-6 months of life). Generally, the decline in visual fixation of a subject over time with respect to certain dynamic stimuli provides a marker of possible abilities or disabilities (such as ASD). The visual fixation of the subject is identified, monitored, and tracked over time through repeated eye tracking sessions, and data relating to the visual fixation is then analyzed to determine a possible increased risk certain conditions in the subject. A change in visual fixation as compared to similar visual fixation data of typically-developing subjects or to a subject's own, prior visual fixation data provides an indication of a developmental, cognitive, or mental ability or disability.
Systems and methods for performing an electrocardiogram
A system and method for performing an electrocardiogram is described herein. The system may include one or more of an electrode strip, a data recorder, a connector, one or more computing platforms, and/or other components. The electrode strip may include multiple electrodes configured to provide signals conveying information associated with electrocardiograms. The multiple electrodes may be integrated into the electrode strip. The data recorder may be configured to receive and record information associated with electrocardiograms. Information associated with electrocardiograms may be communicated from the electrode strip to the data recorder via a connector. The connector may include a cableless connector. In some implementations, the information associated with electrocardiograms may be transmitted to one or more computing platforms.
Sensorized Bead-Wire Toy for Studying Finger Force and Manual Dexterity
A hand function testing device includes a base having a number of rigid wires protruding from a surface thereof, each rigid wire having a stationary bead affixed at a predetermined position along the rigid wire, a moving bead movably mounted on the rigid wire and movable along a working region of the rigid wire defined between a base-end of the rigid wire and the stationary bead, the moving bead being mounted on the rigid wire via reception of the rigid wire through a lumen in the moving bead, and at least one force sensing element for measuring a force input to the moving bead. A method of testing hand function includes using the hand function testing device to measure a force input to a moving bead as the moving bead is moved within a working region on the rigid wire.
Measuring responses to sound using pupillometry
A method is disclosed for testing hearing in infants based on pupil dilation response. It does not require sedation or depend on subjective judgments of human testers. Pupil dilation response to sound is measured by presenting on a display a visually engaging video containing periodic changes; presenting sounds synchronized with the periodic changes of the video; recording images from a camera directed in front of the display, where the camera is sensitive to infrared wavelengths; processing the images to measure pupil sizes; and processing the measured pupil sizes to determine, statistically, the presence of a pupil dilation response to the sounds.
Measurement probe for preschoolers and brain function measuring device for preschoolers
A measurement probe for preschoolers includes a fiber configured to irradiate a head of a subject with light, and a holder made of a metal or resin other than rubber. A tip surface of a tip of the fiber that contacts the head of the subject is flat, and a corner of a tip surface of the holder that contacts the head of the subject is chamfered.
Cowl neck barrier gown with attachments
This invention offers a fully protective cowl neck garment with various fasteners designed to attach additional protective gear, such as gloves and shoe coverings. Additionally, a temperature sensor shield is located on the hat and protective mask. This allows the clients or patients the ability to see and to monitor the temperature of their caregivers. The caregiver's temperature is visible on the hat, as well as the face mask. This makes the caregivers accountable to their clients or patients, as well as their colleagues and coworkers. This invention eliminates the worry of contact with infectious diseases or dangerous liquids, by utilizing elastic manual ties and hook-and-loop fasteners to ensure the garment is secured fully on a user's body. Overall, this invention ensures medical professionals, firemen, emergency medical personnel, government workers, and so forth, are protected fully from contagious and infectious diseases, liquids, and so forth.
ALARM SYSTEM FOR INTRAVENOUS PUMP OR CATHETER BASED UPON FUZZY LOGIC
In some embodiments, a self-monitoring intravenous catheter system is provided. An alarm controller is provided that receives signals representing a pH value, an oxygen saturation value, and a pressure value in proximity to the distal end of the catheter. By performing a fuzzy logic analysis of the values, the alarm controller is able to detect that the catheter is about to fail or has failed, and can cause alerts to be presented. In some embodiments, an intravenous catheter is provided that has a pH sensor and an oximeter disposed at a distal end of the catheter to obtain the pH value and oxygen saturation values analyzed by the alarm controller. Embodiments of the catheter and self-monitoring intravenous catheter system may be particularly useful in treating neonates, who are sensitive to catheter failure and are not capable of detecting the signs of failure themselves.
PROGRAMMABLE INTERACTIVE SYSTEMS, METHODS AND MACHINE READABLE PROGRAMS TO AFFECT BEHAVIORAL PATTERNS
Implementations of a programmable interactive system to interact with a user to alter a user's behavioral patterns are provided. Such systems can include one or more of a processor, at least one input sensor operably coupled to the processor to sense at least one sensor input, at least one output device to output at least one stimulus to be observed by the user, a core unit to interact with the user, the core unit being operably coupled to the processor, and a non-transitory machine-readable medium embodying a set of machine readable instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the system to detect one or more sensor inputs by way of the at least one sensor, analyze said at least one or more sensor inputs to identify a parameter describing the status of the user, and responsive to determining the parameter describing the status of the user, causing the at least one output device to change output of at least one stimulus that is observable by the user.
Machine-based patient-specific seizure classification system
This disclosure is directed to a machine-based patient-specific seizure classification system. In general, an example system may comprise a non-linear SVM seizure classification system-on-chip (SoC) with multichannel EEG data acquisition and storage for epileptic patients is presented. The SoC may integrate a hardware-efficient log-linear Gaussian Basis Function engine, floating point piecewise linear natural log, and low-noise, high dynamic range readout circuits. In at least one example implementation, the SoC may consume 1.83 μJ/classification while classifying 8 channel results with an average detection rate, average false alarm rate and latency of 95.1%, 0.94% and <2 s, respectively.
