Signal conducting device for concurrent power and data transfer to and from un-wired sensors attached to a medical device
A medical device system for concurrent power and data transfer comprises an elongated conductive member. At least a portion of the elongated conductive member is configured for insertion within an intraluminal space. One or more sensors that are in electrical connection with the elongated conductive member. The medical device system uniquely allocates each of the plurality of unique contiguous segments within a signal space to one of (i) one or more power channels or (ii) one or more signal channels. The medical device system then sends the electrical signals, via the elongated conductive member, to one or more sensors that are in electrical connection with the elongated conductive member. The medical device harvests energy from the electrical signals. The medical device system isolates transmitted data signals within at least one of the one or more signal channels the data signals generated by the one or more sensors.
Device and method for screening for bioactive materials using visual recognition of animals
The device for screening for bioactive materials using the visual recognition of animals according to the present invention includes: an accommodating member (100) in which animals administered with a candidate bioactive material are accommodated; an imaging member (200) which captures images of the animals; and a detecting member (300) which reads the images in order to detect the visual recognition reactions of the animals. According to the method of the present invention for screening for bioactive materials using visual recognition of animals, the animals are administered with the candidate bioactive material, and the visual recognition reactions of the animals are detected.
Visual stimuli maze test for detecting visual abnormalities in prodromal Alzheimer's disease and in Alzheimer's disease
Disclosed herein is a rodent and human behavioral test for evaluating visual dysfunctions associated with the retinal changes in Alzheimer disease progression. In one example, the inventors developed a maze that tests rodent's ability to identify (1) specific contrasts, (2) specific colors, (3) certain items in the visual field, and (4) other ‘non-typical’ peripheral and night vision functions associated with AD. For instance, the inventors developed a maze the tests the rodents ability to avoid certain colors or contrasts gradients. The maze may include certain rooms with specific visual markers (e.g., colors, contrasts, objects or other visual features) that also contain shock plates.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR JOINT ACTIVITY MONITORING
Joint analysis system for analyzing kinematics of an anatomical including a sensor device, a storage device, a magnet, and an analysis engine. The sensor device can be configured to be disposed on a first side of the joint and can have one or more sensors, a processor coupled to the one or more sensors, a wireless data transmitter coupled to the processor, a data storage device coupled to the processor, and a battery coupled to the sensors, processor, wireless data transmitter, and data storage device. The magnet can be configured to be disposed on the second side of the joint. The analysis engine can be configured to receive data from the sensors.
ANIMAL SURGERY PROTECTIVE SLEEVE
A pet protection system includes a leg portion having a first end having a first cross-section having a flexible opening to insert a pet foot therethrough; an angled portion coupled to the first end and having a second cross-section greater than the first cross-section; and a second end coupled to the angled portion, wherein the second end has a third cross-section greater than the second cross-section; and a body portion coupled to the leg portion, the body portion forming a loop that fits securely on a body of the pet.
System And Method For Determning Status Of Health Of Animals Arriving At A Feed Location
A system and method are provided for screening and treating respiratory diseased animals such as livestock. Health measurements are taken of incoming animals to a location such as a feed yard. The measurements are used as inputs to an algorithm. Processing of the algorithm results in a prediction whether the animal is likely to become sick. A treatment decision is automatically generated by processing of the algorithm for display to a user. A “treat” decision may trigger a predetermined treatment protocol for the particular evaluated animal, while a “don't treat” decision allows the animal to be released.
Apparatus and method for brain fiber bundle microscopy
An intracranial implant to position a fiber bundle to a specified region of a brain of an animal. The implant may include a base support to be fixed to a skull of the animal over an orifice drilled in the skull, a hollow conduit arranged through the base support to guide the fiber bundle to the brain of the animal through the drilled orifice and a first locking member arranged on the base support, to cooperate with a ferrule of the fiber bundle, the first locking member configured to lock the fiber bundle to the specified region of the brain of the animal.
Stepping Doser
The invention provides a stepping doser. The doser comprises a bearing component, a dosing catheter, wiring tubes, a threaded rod, a nut, a signal recorder and a connecting rod; wherein the middle socket of the threaded rod is sheathed with a nut, the lower end of the threaded rod contacts the lower inner wall of the bearing component, the upper end of the threaded rod penetrates the upper part of the bearing component, and the upper end of the threaded rod is provided with a driving structure; The bearing component is also provided with a limit stop for limiting the rotation of the nut so that when the threaded rod rotates, the nut can move up and down; when the nut moves up and down, the dosing catheter can move up and down. The dosing catheter can be stepped with this doser, allowing dosing in a larger area.
Device to be implanted in a human or animal body for material or signal delivery or acquisition within the body, and method of implanting the device
For fixedly implanting a device for material or signal delivery or acquisition or a part of such a device in a human or animal body, an opening is provided in hard tissue of the body, the opening reaching through a hard tissue layer, e.g. through a cortical bone layer into cancellous bone underneath. The device includes a plug portion and/or a cover portion which includes a ring of a material having thermoplastic properties extending around the plug portion or on a tissue facing surface of the cover portion. The opening provided in the hard tissue has a cross section at least in the area of its mouth that is adapted to the plug or cover portion such that the plug portion can be introduced through the mouth of the opening or the cover portion can be positioned over the mouth of the opening such that the ring extends around the opening, along its wall and/or on the hard tissue surface around its mouth.
Animal Health and Wellness Monitoring using UWB Radar
A collar with an ultra-wideband radar is described. A housing contains sensor electronics and the transmit and receive antennas are located separate from the housing around the circumference of the collar. A first example of the collar includes a first transmit antenna and a first receive antenna. A second example of the collar adds a second transmit antenna and a second receive antenna.
