In vivo visualization of lymphatic tissue

Aspects of the invention include methods for visualizing lymphatic tissue in an ocular region, e.g., the cornea, of a living subject, such as a mouse or human. In certain embodiments, the methods include contacting the region with a fluorescently-labeled lymphatic tissue-specific dye, e.g., FITC or rhodamine labeled dextran, and detecting the labeled dye to visualize lymphatic tissue in the region, where the visualization may vary, from an image obtained at a single time to a video over a period of time. The invention finds use in a variety of different applications, including research and therapeutic applications.

INGESTIBLE BOLUS FOR ANIMALS
20170215763 · 2017-08-03 · ·

An ingestible bolus for automatically monitoring location and physiological parameters including core temperature of ruminant animals. The location parameters are determined using magnetic field information and/or GPS data sensed by the sensors in the bolus and communicated along with a unique ID number and time stamp to a centralized location. A data center at the centralized location comprises a computing environment for analyzing the data received from the bolus and transfer the analyzed results including animal temperature, location to a user interface display. The temperature information is analyzed at the data center to determine the health status of the animal.

SAMPLING DEVICE CAPABLE OF CONTINUOUSLY SAMPLING CONTENT IN A BIOLOGICAL CONDUIT AND METHOD THEREOF
20170215849 · 2017-08-03 ·

The present invention provides a device that can move inside a biological conduit such as an intestinal tract for sampling the content therein, and a process thereof. While moving along the intestinal tract, the device can continuously collect the content in the intestinal tract. One or more convoy belts having an adsorbent layer are configured to continuously absorb and preserve the collected intestinal content. The belt loaded with the sample may be used to establish a chemical, biochemical and microbiological spectrum along the length of the intestinal tract.

Integrated microtomography and optical imaging systems

An integrated microtomography and optical imaging system includes a rotating table that supports an imaging object, an optical stage, and separate optical and microtomography imaging systems. The table rotates the imaging object about a vertical axis running therethrough to a plurality of different rotational positions during a combined microtomography and optical imaging process. The optical stage can be a trans-illumination, epi-illumination or bioluminescent stage. The optical imaging system includes a camera positioned vertically above the imaging object. The microtomography system includes an x-ray source positioned horizontally with respect to the imaging object. Optical and x-ray images are both obtained while the imaging object remains in place on the rotating table. The stage and table are included within an imaging chamber, and all components are included within a portable cabinet. Multiple imaging objects can be imaged simultaneously, and side mirrors can provide side views of the object to the overhead camera.

Automated scratch detection system and signal processing algorithm for the study of pruritus in animals

The invention provides a method for automated assessment of pruritus comprising detecting movement of a band located on a limb of a subject animal so as to obtain a signal associated with the detection movement, processing the signal associated with the detected movement through an algorithm configured to establish a scratch movement trigger, and translating the processed signal into scratch counts.
