METHOD FOR PRODUCING A HORSESHOE, AND HORSESHOE
Disclosed is a method for producing a customized horseshoe (10), the shoe being designed to fit the form of a hoof of a specific horse for which it has been produced, the shoe including a metal part (14) which is at least partially visible. At least a portion of the outer surface of the metal part is treated in order to color same, the treatment including an anodization step and a coloring step, or the application of a decorative coating.
MARKERS FOR DETERMINING THE BIOLOGICAL AGE OF A DOG
A method for determining the biological age or pace of aging of an adult dog, said method comprising determining the levels of one or more biomarkers selected from the group consisting of (1) blood globulin levels, (2) blood total protein, (3) blood alkaline phosphatase, (4) blood platelet count, (5) blood mean corpuscular volume or (6) urine specific gravity, comparing the results with values obtained from healthy dogs of a known age and of a similar category (toy, small, medium, large or giant). Kits, systems and/or computer media for carrying out the method form further aspects of the invention.
System and method for monitoring body kinematics
A system and method are provided for monitoring body kinematics. A wearable coil configuration of the system comprises at least first and second electrically-conductive coils adapted to be secured to a subject in a predetermined spatial relationship and orientation relative to one another. The first coil acts as a first transmitter and generates a first magnetic flux when a first electrical current is passed through it. The second coil acts as a receiver. The first magnetic flux induces a first electrical current or voltage in the second coil. A measurement instrument of the system is configured to measure the first electrical current or voltage and to output a first measurement signal. A processor, which may be part of, or external to, the system is configured to execute a motion monitoring algorithm that processes at least the measurement signal to determine at least a first motion made by the subject.
Round-the-clock monitoring of an animal's health status
A system and associated methods for round-the-clock monitoring of an animal's health status includes an animal harness that is worn by the animal, and one or both of a mobile device and a remote server. The animal harness includes a plurality of sensors for collecting health measurements of the animal. The animal harness also includes a transceiver that communicates the heath measurements to one or both of the mobile device and the remote server, where a user may view the health measurements. Firmware in the animal harness, an application running in the mobile device, and software in the remote server processes and corrects the health measurements to generate a health status of the animal and notifications are generated when the animal's health is not within a safe range defined by the user.
APPARATUS FOR MONITORING NUTRITION, ESPECIALLY FERMENTATION IN THE RUMEN OF A RUMINANT
An apparatus for monitoring nutrition, especially fermentation in a rumen of a ruminant, is designed to be orally applied to the ruminant and to stay permanently in the rumen. The apparatus includes: a) at least one sensing unit for sensing a characteristic value of dissolved carbon dioxide in the liquor of rumen and/or reticulum; and b) at least one first communication unit for the wireless communication of data with a respective second communication unit outside the ruminant. The sensing unit includes at least one attenuated total reflectance (ATR) sensor.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR THE STIMULATION OF BIOLOGICAL FUNCTIONS IN AN ORGANISM
The present disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatuses for inducing a desired biological response in an organism through the use of one or more repetitive signals from one or a series of LED lights designed to emit the signal with multiple pulsed components. Each component of the signal contains a one or more light color spectrum or wavelength that is within 50 nm of the peak absorption of a photon receptor of the organism corresponding to the desired biological response. Each component has a repetitive ON duration with an OFF duration and an intensity where the relationship between the ON duration and OFF duration of the first component and the second component induces the desired response in the organism through the stimulation or excitation of a molecule associated with a photoreceptor and the reset of the molecule.
BIOFEEDBACK SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MONITORING ANIMAL LIMBS
A biofeedback system for monitoring a limb of an animal. The biofeedback system comprises a non-rigid wrap configured to encircle the limb when the non-rigid wrap is attached to the limb and a plurality of sensors configured to be disposed within an interior of the non-rigid wrap when the non-rigid wrap is attached to the limb. Each of the plurality of sensors measures a first biometric value. The biofeedback system further includes a control module disposed within the interior of the non-rigid wrap and coupled to the plurality of sensors. The control module reads from each of the plurality of sensors first biometric values recorded during exercise of the animal.
SYSTEM FOR ALERTING SERVICE ANIMALS TO PERFORM SPECIFIED TASKS
A system for alerting service animals to perform specified tasks generally includes an alert device which provides a first and a second haptic alert from an alert device worn by a service animal and a monitoring device worn by a handler. The monitoring device is programmed to monitor a physiologic parameter of the handler and has a first mode programmed to transmit a first actuation signal to the alert device when the physiologic parameter exceeds a first threshold such that the alert device provides the first haptic alert to the service animal and a second mode programmed to transmit a second actuation signal to the alert device when the physiologic parameter exceeds a second threshold such that the alert device provides the haptic alert to the service animal. The auditory alert is correlated to a first task and the second haptic alert is correlated to a second task.
LIVESTOCK HEART RATE MEASUREMENT WITH BOLUS SENSOR
Various examples describe a livestock monitoring system and method. A sensor signal may comprise a rotational component describing a rotation of the sensor within an animal and a linear component describing a linear movement of the sensor within the animal. The rotational component may be used to identify an animal respiration signal. The animal respiration signal and the linear component may be used to generate a respiration-corrected linear component. An animal heart signal may be detected from the respiration-corrected linear component.
APPARATUS AND METHODOLOGIES FOR IMPROVED DETECTION OF IMPORTANT BIOLOGICAL STATES IN ANIMALS
Embodiments herein are generally related to apparatus and methodologies for improved screening of important biological states in animals. The apparatus and methodologies comprise the use of high-resolution infrared thermography images collected about an animal to obtain both thermal information and behavioural information about the animal, wherein both thermal and behavioural information can be used to generate a comprehensive thermal prolife value that is indicative of the biologically important state in the animal.
