Markers for determining the biological age of a dog
A method for determining the biological age or pace of aging of an adult dog, said method comprising determining the levels of one or more biomarkers selected from the group consisting of (1) blood globulin levels, (2) blood total protein, (3) blood alkaline phosphatase, (4) blood platelet count, (5) blood mean corpuscular volume or (6) urine specific gravity, comparing the results with values obtained from healthy dogs of a known age and of a similar category (toy, small, medium, large or giant). Kits, systems and/or computer media for carrying out the method form further aspects of the invention.
Two-layer adhesion of electronics to a surface
Embodiments of the present invention are directed to a two-layer adhesive and methods of using the same to secure an electronic device to an organism. In a non-limiting embodiment of the invention, a surface of the organism is coated with a first adhesive layer (bottom layer). The first adhesive layer is cured and a surface of the cured first adhesive layer is coated with a second adhesive layer (top layer). An electronic device is positioned on the second adhesive layer prior to curing the second adhesive layer. The second adhesive layer is then cured, thereby embedding the electronic device within the second adhesive layer. The bottom layer and the top layer are selected such that the bottom layer releases upon exposure to a first solvent after a first duration and the top layer releases upon exposure to a second solvent after a second duration more than the first duration.
METHOD FOR DETERMINING VETERINARY ULTRASOUND EXAMINATION CONDITION, AND ULTRASOUND IMAGING APPARATUS
The disclosure relates to a method for determining a veterinary ultrasound examination condition, and an ultrasound imaging apparatus. The method includes: obtaining animal information of an animal to be tested, wherein the animal information includes an animal type and/or an examination type; determining currently available probes and supported examination modes; and determining, based on the animal information and historical usage data of the available probes, a target probe and a target examination mode for examining the animal to be tested from the available probes and the supported examination modes. According to the disclosure, the probe for examining the animal to be tested can be automatically determined, such that repetitive work of a user can be reduced, and a suitable probe for examination can be quickly obtained, thereby improving examination efficiency of veterinary ultrasound examination, and ensuring examination effect.
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC's) Diagnosis System
A diagnosis system and method for detecting various Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in a biological sample by utilizing a smart platform configured to harness animal bio-sensors trained to detect various VOC's which may indicate various pathologies, and by conducting various data collection practices and analysis methods in order to produce output results. The diagnosis system and method is configured to analyze behavioral parameters concerning the animal bio-sensor and provide a non-invasive and safe diagnostic solution that does not involve exposing a patient to radiation or any other potentially harmful procedure.
Instrument for acquiring co-registered orthogonal fluorescence and photoacoustic volumetric projections of tissue and methods of its use
Disclosed are instruments and methods for acquiring co-registered orthogonal fluorescence and photoacoustic volumetric projections of an interrogated object. In an embodiment, an instrument includes a rotary mechanism configured to rotate an interrogated object relative to an array of photoacoustic transducers and an optical detector. An optical excitation unit is configured to irradiate the interrogated object with pulses of light, inducing both fluorescence and photoacoustic responses inside the interrogated object at each of a plurality of rotational positions. The array of photoacoustic transducers includes unfocused elements arranged in a pattern along an axis of rotation, the elements configured to detect photoacoustic signals generated inside the volume of the interrogated object. The optical detector is arranged opposite to the array of photoacoustic transducers with respect to the axis of rotation and is configured to register sources of fluorescence excited inside the interrogated object. Each of the optical excitation axes form with each of the optical detection axes, and with each of the photoacoustic detection axes, angles that are between 60° and 90° so as to enable acquisition of co-registered orthogonal fluorescence and photoacoustic volumetric projections of the interrogated object.
Appliance for assisting in vaginal penetration and provided to receive a working tool
An appliance includes a handle, a speculum tube extending axially from the handle as far as a distal end where it has an opening, a video viewing system having a lens arranged in the speculum tube and a transmission device connected to the lens and connectable to a remote viewing screen, and a lens support for keeping the lens in a predetermined position with respect to the speculum tube, in which position the lens is near the opening and opposite the space situated beyond the opening, characterized in that the speculum tube has an end part and a main part extending between the end part and the handle, the end part being arranged around the support and delimiting the opening, the end part being elastically deformable and the main part being rigid.
Apparatus and method for characterization of a ductile membrane, surface, and sub-surface properties
An ultrasound signal processor uses an excitation generator to cause displacement of a membrane or surface while a series of ultrasound pulses are applied to the membrane or surface. Phase differences between a transmitted signal and received signal are examined to determine the movement of the membrane or surface in response to the applied excitation. An examination of the phase response of the membrane or surface provides a determination as to whether the fluid type behind the membrane or surface is one of: no fluid, serum fluid, or purulent fluid.
SORTING ANIMALS BASED ON NON-INVASIVE DETERMINATION OF ANIMAL CHARACTERISTICS
Methods and systems are disclosed for improvements in aquaculture that allow for increasing the number and growth efficiency of fish in an aquaculture setting (or other animals in other settings) by identifying or predicting characteristics of the animals based on visual or ultrasound images of the animals obtained through non-invasive means. The animals are sorted based on the characteristics.
Cowl neck barrier gown with attachments
This invention offers a fully protective cowl neck garment with various fasteners designed to attach additional protective gear, such as gloves and shoe coverings. Additionally, a temperature sensor shield is located on the hat and protective mask. This allows the clients or patients the ability to see and to monitor the temperature of their caregivers. The caregiver's temperature is visible on the hat, as well as the face mask. This makes the caregivers accountable to their clients or patients, as well as their colleagues and coworkers. This invention eliminates the worry of contact with infectious diseases or dangerous liquids, by utilizing elastic manual ties and hook-and-loop fasteners to ensure the garment is secured fully on a user's body. Overall, this invention ensures medical professionals, firemen, emergency medical personnel, government workers, and so forth, are protected fully from contagious and infectious diseases, liquids, and so forth.
