A package delivery apparatus uses an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to deliver a package containing a product to a delivery destination area. The UAV uses GPS signals to guide it to the delivery destination area and an altimeter to determine its height above the delivery destination area. The UAV then adjusts its height to a preferred drop or release height for that package and product and releases the package. An optional camera allows a human operator to view the delivery destination area. An expandable foam package surrounds the product to protect the product from impact and moisture. The package may be streamlined to reduce air resistance and increase the range of the UAV. The package characteristics, such as its thickness, are determined based one or more of the weight and fragile nature of the product, and the drop height.

Method and system for automated stacking and loading of wrapped facemasks into a carton in a manufacturing line

An automated method and system for stacking and loading wrapped or unwrapped facemasks into a carton in a facemask production line includes conveying individual wrapped facemasks in a continuous stream to a stacking location. At the stacking location, the facemasks are deposited into a vertical accumulator such that the facemasks are stacked in the accumulator. Upon reaching a predetermined fill level of facemasks in the accumulator, a bottom retainer in the accumulator is opened such that the stacked facemasks drop into a carton placed below the accumulator. Upon opening the bottom retainer, a mid-level retainer is actuated in the accumulator that captures facemasks that continue to be deposited into the accumulator at an intermediate height above the bottom retainer. The bottom retainer is closed after the stacked facemasks drop into the carton, and the mid-level retainer is then opened such that the facemasks captured by the mid-level retainer drop onto the bottom retainer.

The disclosure relates to an apparatus for handling food portions which comprises a first conveying device, a rotation device with a second conveying device forming a depositing surface which can be turned about a vertical axis, a third conveying device, and a control unit. The first conveying device is configured such that it can at least in regions be arranged above the rotation device. The control unit is adapted to control the first conveying device such that food portions are deposited in a format arrangement by the first conveying device from above onto the depositing surface of the rotation device, to control the rotation device to rotate the depositing surface with the food portions about the vertical axis, and to control the second conveying device to convey the turned food portions onward onto the third conveying device.
