Method and apparatus for producing pouched tobacco product
In a method and apparatus for producing a small pouch with a predetermined amount of particulate material therein, a predetermined amount of the particulate material is portioned from a bulk supply and compacted into a single discrete caplet. The caplet is then deposited into an open hollow pouch closed at one end thereof, and the open end is then closed with the caplet between the closed ends of the pouch. The caplet in the pouch is then compressed to return it to its particulate form. The particulate material may be granular or shredded tobacco.

Device and Method for Reshaping the Gable Surfaces of Packages with a Slanted Gable
The invention relates to a device (24, 25) for post-forming the gable surfaces of packaging (16) with a diagonal gable, comprising: a conveying device (19) with cells (20) secured thereto for receiving the packaging (16) and for transporting the packaging (16) along a transport direction (T), at least one gable folder (27) for folding a fin seam (17) in the gable region of the packaging (16), and at least two lug folders (28A, 28B) for folding lugs (15) in the gable region of the packaging (16). Both the gable folder (27) and the lug folders (28A, 28B) are movably mounted relative to the conveyor device (19) and the packaging (16) transported therewith. The invention additionally relates to a method for post-forming the gable surfaces of packaging (16) with a diagonal gable. The aim of the invention is to maintain and/or correct the shape of the gable for packages with a diagonal gable. According to the invention, this is achieved in that at least one forming tool (29) for post-forming the fin seam (17) is provided in the gable region of the packaging (16), and the forming tool (29) is movably mounted relative to the conveyor device (19) and the packaging (16) transported therewith.

SEALANT CARTRIDGE AIR RELEASE APPARATUS AND METHODS
Sealant cartridge press fixtures are disclosed. The fixtures include a bracket comprising first and second side arms that receive a sealant cartridge therebetween. A transverse support bar connected to the first and second side arm is attached to a sealant filling nozzle. An air pressure cylinder mounted on the bracket includes a reciprocating piston rod that contacts and deforms a sidewall of the sealant cartridge at the beginning of a filling operation to allow trapped air to escape from the cartridge. An empty sealant cartridge having a slidable plunger therein is mounted at its front end on the sealant filling nozzle. The sealant is initially dispensed into the cartridge in the space between the front end of the cartridge and the plunger. While pressing and deforming the sidewall, it temporarily creates a gap between an interior surface of the sidewall and a plunger. The gap allows unwanted trapped air to escape from the sealant cartridge.

In some embodiments, the method may include hot-filling a plastic container, sealing the container, and conveying the sealed container, each with an inner annular wall and a push-up portion in a first position. In some embodiments, the method may further include creating a vacuum pressure in the hot-filled and sealed container and repositioning the push-up portion from the first position to a second position under a mechanical force.

VERTICAL DISPLACEMENT DEVICES AND METHODS FOR MECHANICALLY INVERTING A THERMOPLASTIC CONTAINER BASE
A displacement device for moving a truncated cone at a base of a container from an as-blown position to a displaced position. The base includes a deep base ring between a standing surface and the truncated cone. The displacement device includes a collar sized and shaped to be received within the deep base ring. A plunger includes a head at an end of a shaft extending through the collar. The head is sized and shaped to be received within the receptacle of the collar. The plunger is movable from a retracted position, at which the head is seated within the receptacle, to an extended position at which the head extends out from within the receptacle to allow the head to contact the truncated cone and move the truncated cone from the as-blown position to the displaced position.
